Lumix G7 shutter time

When I press the shutter button, there is about a 3 second period before I can take the next photo.

I've got camera set on regular jpeg, use UHS1 card. When I tried V60 didn't make any difference. Have image settings on 7meg.pixles.

Camera is new to me so I'm looking at different menu settings to see what I can change.

Also have GX85 & when I use 14-140 lens with it, there is no delay, press the button, photo taken immediately.

Same lens on the G7 & there is the approx 3 second delay.

Have I missed something in settings?

Thoughts?

Thank you

Is the shutter delay function activated in the menu? Or the self-timer?

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

I turn the 'review image' off.

I bet you've got it set to 3 seconds, or thereabouts.

I don't think that one matters.  Shutter overrides review.

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

Think I found something with my g7

The self timer can be set to 10 or 2 seconds before taking photo

I've looked at submenus & can't find way to turn off self timer

Yes on top left side I have button on single photo notnntimer option

2 seconds is about time from pressing shutter to when photo taken

So next step seems to be how to get timer to shut off option

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

Just posted what I found there is no menu option to turn off self timer

Lowest setting about 2 seconds which is what the delay is

Thoughts?

The mode dial top left is switched to self timer.  You want it at the other end of the dial for single shot.

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

it is set on single shot, after setting it I turned camera off, pulled out battery, put battery back in & turned camera on.

Still is in 2 second self timer mode.

In Menu settings shows 2 or 10 seconds, no "off"

Nothing in info site on Panasonic support that remotely covers this.

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

There's no "off" setting in the menu; only the dial does that.

Nothing changed when I turned dial from timer to single photo

That's what is curious

Nothing on Panasonic site about this

Thanx for reply

Sure to have the right "mode dial" setting?

P.181 of G7 pdf user manual

You select the "Single" instead of "Self Timer" ? For Panasonic cameras, Single shot and Self Timer can not co-existed.

G7 use a different way to control the Drive Mode than GX85.

GX85 use the Down of 4-ways control to set Drive mode. P.134 of GX85 pdf manual.

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

Do any other positions from the drive mode dial not work either? It's starting to look like you've got a defective dial.

Re: Lumix G7 shutter time

yay I found solution.

in a menu, there's button for Auto Review, set it to off & wonder of wonder

now photos taken instantly

when I did message chat with Panasonic, tech said he was escalating to next tier.

fun troubleshooting

If auto review be the cause, I suppose it might worth to know that no matter under what situation, after a shot, when we half hit the shutter again auto review will be cancelled and returns to standby shooting mode.

I have my auto review switched off. Before that, I also had auto review on but set it to hold. I used to touch the shutter after a shot if I have no interest to review that shot...No delay for my next shot.

crazy, my auto review has been permanently on  on every Panny I have owned and it never stops the use of the shutter nor should it.
