The Olympus PEN E-PL10 is the latest in the company's entry-level mirrorless line-up. It's a beginner-friendly camera that does many things well, but ultimately doesn't stand out amongst its competition.
14 Sigma Lenses for 2019 in native L Mount
.. as stated by CEO Sigma Corp.
Here they are:
- Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art
- Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
- Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
- Sigma 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art

- Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary
- Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary
11 Full Frame, 3 APS-C (the last 3 in the above list)
His actual words, "We'll make the L-mount version of those lenses next year. And also, we will release some more lenses designed for the short flange. So that means from an early stage, users of this new L-mount system will have a wide variety of lenses available."
A wide variety of outstanding quality, leading-edge IQ lenses.
And we already know their prices. And we know from experience the Nikon and Canon equivalents, if ever made, will be 50-100% more expensive, and no better IQ, at best.
Nikon show 9 lenses by end 2019. Canon show 4, of which 2 are $2,300+, and let's say they add 4 more in 2019 for a total of 8.
And we have to add Panasonic's L Mount lenses, which surely will number 3 or 4 for 2019, minimum.
And at the top end price-wise we already have Leica's 12 compatible lenses (6 full frame at top of this list, and 6 APS-C):
- Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35mm F3.5-4.5 ASPH
- Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm F2.8-4 ASPH
- Leica Summilux-SL 50mm F1.4 ASPH
- Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm F2 ASPH
- Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm F2 ASPH
- Leica APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280 mm F2.8–4
- Leica Vario-Elmar-T 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6
- Leica Elmarit-TL 18mm F2.8 ASPH
- Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH

- Leica APO-Vario-Elmar-T 55-135mm F3.5-4.5
- Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f2.8 ASPH
I'm seeing about 30 L-Mount lenses available without adapters by the end of 2019, comprising 21 full frame and 9 APS-C. Plus Sigma's hint at some short flange native designs in the above quote.

I just found the following statement in Panasonic's press release on the alliance: "The lens mount is currently used in the Leica SL full-frame camera system and the Leica CL, TL2 and TL APS-C camera models. All lenses made for the various different systems can be used on all cameras without adapters and without any functional limitations..."
So, I am not sure what Sigma's CEO was trying to highlight.

Very right, and Panasonic has announced they will have at least seven additional (10 total) L-mount lenses within one year of camera launch, i e around second-quarter 2020. And Leica has already announced five more APO Summicrons for 2019-20: 21, 24, 28, 35 and 50 to go with the existing 75 and 90.
By the way, it would not surprise me in the least if some of the Panasonic and possibly some of the Leica lenses involve Sigma design and/or partial-production contracts. These guys all know each other already...
JoelH
Thanks for the clarification.
That solves one problem... affordable lenses (because Sigma is involved)
The other problem still remains for the APS-C options, for now... Leica body prices

But why no zoom lens ? Anyway the 14/1.8 with this new camera is just what I need.

What exactly you don't understand about it?
The L-mount consortium consists of three members, two camera & lens makers and one TV manufacturer who also happen make cameras.
There are four existing APS-C models out there already, and no doubt more will come later, perhaps (probably) from all three L-mount members.
I don't see why would they not come up with new APS-C models, eventually. That would make the system more attractive to a wider audience and increase sales.

This.
The L mount is an APSC and FF mount system. There are currently more actual, real APSC cameras for it right now then FF that you can actually buy. So as of this moment the system is APSC heavy.
I think APSC is going to be taken seriously by the LMA. Somebody, dont know who yet, will most likely come out with some very nice offerings using the smaller sensor. Or somebody might join the alliance down the road and focus on APSC. Olympus, Pentax, who knows.

My hope is that there will be a couple of relatively compact (not MFT compact, but intermediate) bodies, preferably corner-EVF style. Right now there is the Leica CL (APS) but I would like to see a similar FF-capable version from one or more of these companies. Then I would be happy to buy a couple of smaller APS lenses (like the Leica-TL lenses) to encourage me to carry the camera (and to get into events where the SLR "pro" look is prohibited), but still capable of using the FF lenses for dedicated best performance in more demanding situations. This point of view is that of an enthusiast/hobbyist, not a professional who expects to tote the FF gear anyway and probably prefers the bigger cameras for their controls and handling.

It sounds like they are going to "bake in an adapter" to their existing DSLR-designed lenses like they did with the Sony FE Native mounts. It's not the ideal solution as far as size is concerned, but it works very well and will help launch the L-Mount system on a good, solid footing.

It will be OK for zooms (as they are already big enough that the added length of the adapter won't make such a big difference). For primes, however, I feel that they will become unduly longer than they need to be.

According to Sigma, a totally mirrorless-based design could only make primes shorter for focal lengths below 35mm.
So, you're not missing out on much with the approach they are taking.

3 sad faces! Be reasonable! The alliance announcement is only 3 months old, not a single camera has been launched (or even properly specified) and you are all over them with frowns!?!
- Nikon actually launched with 3 lenses covering 24 to 70mm.
- Canon launched with 4 lenses covering 24 to 105mm.
- Panasonic will announce lenses with the launch of the new cameras.
Really do look forward to see other less-expensive native L lens..
The Sigmas listed above start from $330. What sort of $100 junk are you so looking forward to?
Also, what have you seen in any of the alliance details that suggest they are aiming at the bottom of the FF market? I see more that suggests they are after the premium buyer. Maybe you need to start looking elsewhere.

I'm seeing about 30 L-Mount lenses available without adapters by the end of 2019, comprising 21 full frame and 9 APS-C.
Among these 21 FF native lens, it appears only 3 luxury Leicas are telephoto, and they're way to over budget
L mount isn't a new mount, right ? And with what you listed (Thanks for the summary BTW), Leica lenses are more expensive, and Sigma only has prime, but I like telephoto lens more.
I am considering swapping to mirrorless, S1 is worthy to consider isn't it. I don't know what I said offends anyone or anything, it's just abt. the price. Yes I am on budget, is it wrong to think of less-expensive gears ?

Why would you oppose FF to premium?
Sony is already playing premium in my opinion. The problem I see with the Sony line-up is that they just redesign there existing A-mount line-up adding here and there the lack of in-lens AF motors or the lack of weather-sealing.
The IQ of the new Sony lenses is already over-rated compared to the previous A-mount line-up.
As a result I consider that Sony is already playing premium game. In a certain way I could consider the 16-35 of Leica a bargain taking into account that it costs 2 x 16-35 gm/zeiss from Sony.
Now only the chart-tests and the field-tests will tell us if it's premium, bargain, scam ... Whatever adjective.
My first impression is that 5k into a Leica lens would be better invested than 2.5k into a Sony lens.
My second impression is that those lenses will be head to head and toe to toe in real life.

Ah yeah I didn't get your message: I missed the "bottom" . Sorry that's a miss. Anyhow I think we see the same things happening into L-mount actually. Thanks for correcting me rapidly.
Wow! They sell 10's of these. And they ignore m4/3rds...

The Nikon Coolpix P950 is a powerful superzoom compact camera, built around a 24-2000mm equivalent zoom lens. Successor to the popular P900, the P950 adds an improved EVF, Raw capture and 4K video. So is it worth $800?
The Fujifilm X-T4 brings image stabilization, faster shooting and a bigger battery to the X-T series. It's not without its shortcomings but we found it to be an excellent stills and video shooter.

The Panasonic FZ1000 II is a worthy successor to the company's first large-sensor, long-zoom bridge camera, and a value-conscious rival to the popular Sony RX10-series. It's just as fast as its predecessor but produces nicer JPEGs, has significantly improved controls and interface, and more.
