The camera was announced in Feb 2017 so it's been out for almost two years.

It's being sold for 460 (euro) and I am considering buying it (I'd try to sell the M10 + 15-45 mm).

Your thoughts?

Its actually a good camera, but for right now, it is also worth waiting for the possible EOS R APS-C camera. Normally, I'd say go ahead, but the EOS-M lineup hasn't been fully fleshed out, and may never be if the R APS-C comes about. I wouldn't want to buy into a dead-end system if a perfectly reasonable (or even better) replacement is around the corner.

OK, so the M6 stops functioning if an APS-C R comes out?

Hi, xabi, it appears that the rumor vine has it that there will be updates to the M line in the near future, which is good news for the short term of the M system (although long term is still uncertain), but I have greater confidence in recommending the M system now than before. Ironically though, my advice is still to wait if able, since there are 2 planned cameras in the works, and there seem to be significant upgrades (with possibly true 4k video). The M5 is still a good camera with only a small premium to the M6 if you get it at a good price too. Lens shortage continue to be a problem for this system, so I would recommend the 32mm f/1.4 if you go for the system, albeit at a higher price (also the 22mm is good, but slow).

Re: Poor low light?

Well I don't know what kind of shooting you do, but it depends. The current M cameras are great outdoors and for travel, but I find they really struggle in low light e.g. studio environment. It is possible the two new cameras in 2019 will improve on that, but if you never shoot in such conditions, then you may not have to worry about it. I think it actually boils down to you more than the camera. Do you want to wait to who knows exactly when in early 2019? Could be Jan, could be May. Would you be happy waiting until then? If you are, you couldn't lose, since you already have a system. If not, just buy the camera already and stop worrying about it, several months of peace.

Thanks for your comments. I didn't explain myself good enough, tho: I didn't need convincing about the quality of the camera. What I wanted to know was if it was worth paying some 500€ for a camera this old, knowing that there are rumours about two new mirrorless cameras coming in 2019.

So the first big questions are: For what purposes do you need it? What is your budget? What do you Need in a camera?

I don't need the camera, I want it.

If I didn't own one I'd buy it still. What is it about your m10 that has you looking?

My main camera is the 760D, and I like it very much but it's way too big and heavy to carry it with me every day. I bought the M10 + 22mm a year ago now, and I love the size, but miss the extra dials.

Yes, the M6 is still totally worth it. You can also look at the cheaper M100. It is a newer camera which might make you feel better.

I got the M10 once the M100 was announced. I don't think it was worth the price back then, and dials were the same so I'd have the same issue.

I was going to wait for its Mark II version next year, but I think it will only have minor improvements + cost around $800.

Exactly. What will they add, cropped 4k video? Meh.

I own EF-S and M gear, and I am not interested in switching to a new mount and investing thousands of €/£/$. Even if they made a FF camera this size and price (ha!), I doubt I would want it. APS-C works well for me.

Excellent and highly recommended camera. For E460 I would not hesitate. In my experience 15-45mm lens achieved very good size/price/image quality balance.

Sadly after my research I have seen that despite making it look like they are from Europe the seller actually ship it from China (delivery taking ages, no guarantee…). And TrustPilot is full of bad reviews (although which company has a good rating on TrustPilot?).

So I think I will cross my fingers and wait until cybermonday or something like that. Thanks anyway.
