Lens removal

Don't have a clue of what the problem is but I cannot remove a lens from my GX7.

Lens is a 7Artisans 25mm all manual.

Pushing in the lens remove button does not allow me to turn left or right.

Any ideas?

Re: Lens removal

Your manual lens might have poor engineering (the sort of low cost MIC lenses always do), and when you mount the lens you might not careful enough to push the lens in properly. The locking pin might stick.

The safest way is to find a local camera shop to see if they can help. If not, might use force but might risk to damage the mount.

Good luck.

Re: Lens removal

Do know that with lens front facing you, M43 lenses unmount by turning counter clockwise.

You may have to hold the release button entire time while turning to unmount. As mentioned, given this is an inexpensive third party lens, the mount machining may be subpar and not engaging the mount properly. Using brute force may risk damaging the camera.

Do note that when mounting M43 lenses, the release button should not be held down in order for it to lock properly.

Re: Lens removal

I had issues with lens from day one.  first time I used it it fell off as I had not rotated quite enough.

I had issues removing some time ago but it finally released.

This time it is like it was welded to mount. I think the pins are bent.

I have another gx7 body that is parts only. I will examine to see the possible solution.

As lens works really well, i will just leave it until I can afford to have it professionally removed.

Removing may require cutting into lens to release pins. As it is a really cheap lens no big loss.

Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks for the update. If it had issues the entire time, then it's definitely the lens. I see in Amazon reviews, someone had same issue (but was mounted to G7). Better to sacrifice the lens than the body, but good to hear at least you have a spare parts camera if anything goes wrong.
