Wellllll, after three years, perhaps an update on all this might be appropriate (at least for all your fans out there).

My main system is Sony.

I have tried Fuji a few times - XE1, XT10, X100 and X100T are the bodies that I used in the past. All for a brief period of time though.

Got an XT20 with 18-55mm and want to try using it along side my Sony. Just for fun.

For family photos, I am considering the 23mm F2. The only Fuji lens that I used were the 18-55mm, if you don't count the 23mm in the X100/T.

Is the XF 23mm F2 a bad lens? I read that it's the same as X100 series where pictures are blurry when the objects are close.

The 23mm F1.4 looks nice, but it costs more than I can spare.

Should I consider the 35mm? On my Sony, I find the 55mm f1.8 too long.

How much and what kind of Sony.  I had a first run a6000 and the 18-105 lens. That lens was awesome and there are days I miss the Sony system especially the af and consistent f 4.  I wish Fuji had the equivalent lens at the same price point.   I say to this because xf lenses are great.  The xf 35 f2 is awesome and the 23 is really really good but if your comparing to the existing Sony stuff for capturing fast moving family you might be a little disappointed.

Sorry, but sometimes I just have to wonder if some folks really bother to look at posting dates. There's nothing wrong with answering a question (even an old one) for the benefit of the forum as a whole. But, if you're expecting the OP to be hanging around watching this thread after 3 years, then you might be a bit more optimistic than most of the rest of us. Who knows... you might get lucky, but one might reasonably wonder whether the question is still relevant to the OP after that period of time.

No rules violated here... just sharing a personal opinion, nothing more...

On a mobile device it’s really hard to see the date.  So no. I didn’t look at the date.  Just saw the post.   If there’s relevant discussion warranted I don’t see how it’s a problem.  I recently got an xpro 3 and can relate to the questions asked especially as I upgrade the lenses from the Xc versions I had.

As I said, it's fine to respond to any thread, regardless of age. However, expecting the OP to respond to a question for a thread this old might just be a tad optimistic. Again, simply an opinion and not an issue requiring any sort of action on your part or mine. Just realize that addressing a question to an OP when the post is this old may be an iffy proposition at best. Beyond that, no worries, and as I clearly stated, no violation of rules here, and no desire to "make a mountain out of a molehill." Let's move on...

Re: What about these then??

In my opinion it’s the best street lens so far. And I have also 23 1.4 , 35 2 and 35 1.4. Perfect combo in the street is 23 f2 - 50 f2. My lens is indeed sharp, really sharp like your also at close distance, probably we were lucky. Obviously if you want to take night pictures it is bad, but in that case you should use only 1.4 / 1.2 .

I use this combo for street as well, but I don’t agree with you that the lens is extremely sharp at MFD

First of all, I want to thank my fans out there ...

Haha. This is why this forum is so awesome!

I am only a hobbyist, so my experience means nothing to others here. But I did actually purchase the 23mm F2, 50mm f2 and the 35mm f2. I took them to UK for a trip. They were great. But I sold my Fuji system after that trip, as I cannot work the X-2 I had at that time. Also, I realized it makes more sense to me just keeping one system and my phone.

Anyhow, as a hobbyist, I think any system is more than enough for me. Sony got me, as they, for a while, had the best mirrorless lineup, at least full frame.

Alright. I hope everyone has a wonderful 2022!
