Video Stabilization from Gyroscope Data

Hi.

I am developing a project where it have Gyroscope and the device can connect to DSLR Hot-Shoe. I am thinking ... if its possible or bring some extra value (in addition to Warp-Stabilizer) for Video or Hyper-lapse stabilization from the Gyro Sensor data? Is it possible to load Gyroscope Data  to a post processing tool (After Effects or Premier Pro or any other) for stabilization?

Thanks in advance.

It is definitely possible - most 360 cameras do this.

There's enough noise in solid state IMU data that you probably don't want to use it solely for stabilization.

Consider a hybrid approach where you primarily use optical flow data, but use an IMU to correct long-term drift.  (likely, accelerometer to get gravity vector combined with compass will be more useful than gyro here).

That said with most SLR approaches, your FOV is narrow enough that if you correct for long-term drift, Bad Things will happen. such as "you do not have any region of view that is always in view".  Not a problem for 360 cameras where everything is in view at all times.

What might work for SLR is to correct for yaw/pitch using only optical flow (ignoring long-term drift) but use accelerometer/gyro to correct for some amount of roll.
