Anyone went from em1.1 to g85/g80?

Hello!

I have been using my trusty em1.1 for several years now and I have been quite happy. It has been a reliable workhorse, but last year I added a Panasonic gx85 to my system, replacing a gx7 I had. I have been using both brands for quite a while, but recently I came to the conclusion that the little gx85 actually performs better in several key areas : autofocus seems more positive and quicker, and is more consistent than on the Oly, camera operation is quicker (probably due to faster processor), jpeg engine makes better use of the sensor ( as far as detail is concerned, color is another matter...) And the only thing that the Oly did really better imo (Ibis) has got excellent as well on the gx85.

Simply put, when I am using both cameras head to head, I enjoy the Panasonic more. Except for the awful evf! Now why am I considering the g80? Well, it's basically a gx85 with better egonomics and a better evf. I don't have the cash right now for a g9, nor do I need it for the kind of photography I do.

The idea of switching systems to go Fuji ( I am already using a mk1 a7 with a few manual lenses) crossed my mind, but I am so committed to the micro43 system, which I love, that it would make no sense. I guess it's just a matter of curiosity. But really, the micro43 system meets all my needs to be fair.

Sooo, back to the queston :anyone switched from the em1.1 to the g85? How is the evf? I have been disappointed with all Panasonic cameras I've used regarding evf ( bad optics most of the time). Other things I should consider?

Thanks for your insight.

I had an E-M10 (original) then E-M5 II. Both probably had IQ similar to the E-M1? I replaced the EM5ii with the G80 mostly because of the ergonomy (even with the battery grip I prefer the Panny. I lost a few Olympus specific features though, Not that I was really using those.

Not used an Olympus, but I'm perfectly happy with the evf on the G80.

However, from some of the viewfinder debates that rage on here, folks seem to have widely different expectations - I suspect you'll have to try it for yourself.
