Women who Rock - End of the Road 2018 (nsfw?)
15

There is a campaign - Keychange - which aims to get an equal gender balance of headline acts at festivals by 2020.  I'm relishing the idea of headliners like Savages, Wolf Alice, Anna Calvi, First Aid Kit, London Grammar, Chelsea Wolfe, Bat for Lashes, Florence and the Machine...

End of the Road was doing its bit this year.  I put up a teaser post last week (Rock Chicks).  I've now worked my way through perhaps a third of the shots I took away from the festival.  Here is a selection of some of the female acts.

Japanese Breakfast - End of the Road 2018

Amyl and the Sniffers (Amy Taylor) - End of the Road

St Vincent - End of the Road 2018

For some reason I shot much of Amyl and the Sniffers at f/4.5 when I normally prefer a wider aperture when the light is so poor.  I think I may have been distracted.

I wasn't trying to write a complete list of all the female acts who could headline a festival!  She certainly could headline a major festival, but she seems to prefer touring on her own.

I've not yet photographed her.

Job done!

Amy Taylor got me out of bed at 1am on Monday morning.  Not quite as interesting as it sounds.  Amyl and the Sniffers were put on then to do a secret set and as soon as I heard them start I had to get up and see them again.  I'd already put my cameras back in the car, so I got no shots of that gig, but it was as energetic, powerful and compelling as the first.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing.

Thank you!

great images.  The one woman I'd really love to shoot in an intimate concert setting is Joan Jett.

A camera is just a light tight box. Photographs are created mentally, they don't just
happen by accident.

Only one?

I've just seen that Kylie is headlining Glasto next year - quite a thought.
