Recommended Travel tripod for M100 + 200mm lens

Looking for a cheap, lightweight travel tripod for this combo. (Total weight: 562g)

Usage: Still photos only (landscapes/night)

Requirements:

- Folded length: < 16". Prefer < 15"

- Reasonable (under $100)

- Min height 50" (obviously more is better)

Nice-to-haves:

- Prefer clip locks

- Resale value and ability to buy used will allow a larger budget

- Hook to hang bag

Tripods I've looked at so far:

Any big reason to avoic Zomei/Bonfoto?

I can't speak for the specific model you've mentioned here, but I have a larger sized CF Sirui tripod (a 2204 if I recall correctly) that I purchased for travel and I've been very happy with it. Build quality is excellent, legs extend smoothly, the tripod head is smooth as well - I have no complaints.

Another happy sirui user here. I have their carbon 025x but the alu equivalent will be closer to your budget. No complaints from the ballhead it comes with as well.

Interesting to see your post.

I own some type of Q666C (I think it was sold under the brand name Freelander) .   I've had it for 3 years.  It's ok.  I wouldn't consider it a great tripod  but it's pretty light and gets the job done.  Just need to make sure everything is tightened down well and i'll often set the 2 second timer when taking a shot.    My only real complain is that if you accidentally loosen the legs too much the legs fall out and it's a royal pain to put them back together.  Nice combo with my M3.

Now, i could be mistaken, but I'm fairly certain the Q666C are not the same as the Manfrotto  Element.  There was someone who talked at my local camera club the other night and he had a Manfrotto Element. I took a really good look at it because I want something a little more compact than my Q666.  Unless my tripod is not a Q666C, the Manfrotto Element looked a little more compact (width) and has thinner center column and legs.

I'm actually considering adding another more compact tripod to my collection the TP166 or Q166 or Q166C .  I'm still undecided however but i'm finding myself increasingly frustrated with the gorilla pod because i can never  find  a way (place to attach it)  to position it high enough.

Look on Ebay, there are tons of them. You can easily find one for under $100 there including very nice ones.

I have Giottos Vitruvian carbon fiber, weighs 3.5lb. Came with a very nice Giottos ballhead. It folds down to 16.5" but goes to 66" in height (I hate bending over with a tripod especially on longer exposures). It wasn't $100 but you get what you pay for - it was like $300 marked down from like $600 as it was being cleared out for a new model. Its rock solid extended, but you get what you pay for.

My only advice to you is don't skimp because you will regret it later and end up buying another one.

Buy once, cry once.
