Any tips for focussing diopter for macro?

I have Sony RX100m5 and a Fantasea 10x diopter wet lens. I believe autofocus doesnt work with this lens, and I end up guessing on focus, drifting in and out on the subject, bracketing the focus. Any tips on focussing with high diopter?

if your camera allows you to separate focus from shutter, then its easier to handle the very narrow field of view.   Lock your foucs, then rock the camera back/forth (or wait for the subject) until it views sharply.  This is also easier for housings where the shutter pressure is light.   This is true for my SLR/43 housings, but not for my wife's nauticam for the Canon G7X2 - need to mash a bit.

I've had only limited experience, mostly bad, with the nauticam diopter.   I feel I need to get into a pool with some test subjects to work it out.
