Where’s the option for:  won’t buy due to lack of features/not impressed?

The lack of IBIS is the reason I won’t be buying.

Point 3 says “probably”.

There’s no ‘probably’ about it- hard pass on this camera due to lack of ibis (and other notable missing features, but mainly ibis).

To only offer a “NO” option for “because I like dslr’s” doesn’t even make sense.

If it had IBIS, I'd be ordering now, but...

...I'll be waiting for the reviews and for the price to fall to the A73 / Z6 levels before getting one (maybe a refurb a year from now?).

Definitely interested in replacing my trusty 6D with this.  The features and IQ are OK for my needs.  Really curious to see what reviews say about the controls/handling.  The lack of direct buttons for things like ISO, metering, focus settings, etc. make me wonder how it behaves in use.  I hate menu diving for core shooting functions.  If Canon has this figured out with fewer buttons, I'm in.  Probably buy one around the holidays.

The little comments after the choices were just my attempts to be humorous. The important thing is whether you’ll buy the camera or not.

Yes, probably, probably not, No. Pick the one that fits you best. Whatever the reason behind the choice.

Wouldn't buy this, even if I didnt have my 5D IV. Would at least wait for the "pro" body or for a price drop on this first R.

Is there an option for "No I'm not buying it, I'm selling my camera gear to invest in another brand."?

3 fps is just a complete joke.

This is not a serious entry by Canon. Very disappointing.

None of the above. Not worried too much about the competition, but I suspect there will be a higher end version coming.

Not enough here to change from 5d4

What do you hope or expect it to offer? What will it take to buy?

I ask because it seems to me the ‘pro’ features we all want/expect can be fount in Sony’s entry level a7III.

How much more will Canon charge for a 2nd card slot and pro video features? Will the pro model have ibis? What will the A74 have(that will be out by then)?

I’m curious as to how Canon is going to charge more for features found in Sony’s $2k entry level camera with a straight face. And will people actually buy it?

Interesting times.

I reluctantly chose number 3

Not because it doesn't stack up against the competition [they suck] but because it does not stack up against the 5DsR.

Re: Poll Time! Will you buy the R

definately a preorder for me. Once folks start using it, I predict it will be out of stock for weeks. For most people it is better than 5div in almost every category. I consider it as an upgrade to my 5div. EVF, articulating screen, way more AF points and smaller more precise points, eye AF, compact 4k codec, excellent stereo mic (should be at least same or better than the superb M50’s mic), silent shooting mode, compatible with ef-s lenses, smaller & lighter, RF 35mm f1.8 macro IS STM - will be great for all around and general use. It is supposedly better optically than 35mm f2 IS but lighter, smaller, improved OIS, it’s macro, quiet and smooth video AF. For people, portrait, studio, travel and video shooters, EOS R is quite a bit better than 5div, IMO. It’s not best for professional use unless used a second body due to single memory card slot and shorter battery life.

I have no doubt that once the dust is settled, many will come back to Canon after trying out Sony. Canon has just demonstrated that is super serious about innovative pro lenses for the new R system. AND EF lenses have more functionality on R body than any dslr including ring control or drop-in CPL/variable ND. One can only imagine upcoming RF mount models and lenses.

Love that the shutter closes when the camera is powered down to protect sensor from dust. Canon innovates where it actually matters: optics, AF, OIS, ergonomics, awb sensors, durability. No cutting corners made in Japan production for both bodies and lenses. Iconic mount.

Well then in that case, I vote: NO. And not in my case because I think DSLRs rule.

I like the Nikon Z offering a lot more on a lot of levels. (As a potential future Sony FE alternative...)

I like the new lenses and the drop in filter adapter for ef lenses.  I will not buy now.   But maybe for 1400 after a couple years pass.  Or the next model.

Probably will buy; right price point and it is a major leap in terms of performance over my Rebel T6i. I want to see the final reviews, plus more image samples, but the specs and the initial impressions look good.

Re: Possibly but with a concern

"Without an AF joystick, you're pretty much required to depend on the touchscreen-based touchpad AF."

I do not like to use touchscreen for selecting AF point.  I would like to learn more on how to choose those AF points through EVF.  This can be a deal breaker for me for this this generation of EOF R.
