Last chance for Panasonic Cashback

Tomorrow is the last chance to snap up a Panasonic cashback bargain before the September 10th deadline.

https://promotions.panasonic.co.uk/promotions/promotions/view_terms/279

On offer are £200 to £300 discounts on very expensive models like the GH5/GH5S and G9. At more affordable levels are the following deals:

Panasonic G80 + 12-60mm lens....................£550 after claiming £150 cashback. Semi-pro level camera. The highest specced camera here under £1,000. It has a chunkier DSLR style (with built in grip) body which is sturdily built and weather proofed. It has the largest and best viewfinder here. It also has a fully articulated screen and mic input for video. The 12-60mm is a well respected kit lens with a longer range, but obviously bigger than a pancake kit lens. This is the best camera and lens combo I've detailed here, if you don't mind a bigger overall package.

Panasonic G7 body only......................£400 after claiming £50 cashback. Basically an older version of the G80. It is similar to the G80 body, but cheaper and it has flaws including shutter shock which can make images at certain shutter speeds blurry. (This was fixed in the G80, GX80 and GX9). Compared to the newer G80, the G7 lacks weather sealing and IBIS (in body image stabilization) which is a real disadvantage. It also has a lower quality viewfinder. I would definitely pay the extra money to get the improved G80.

Panasonic GX9 body only.........£450 after claiming £150 cashback. Enthusiast level camera. It is the newest camera here with a smaller rangefinder style body. It has a few new features like a bluetooth low energy link to smartphones. It has more megapixels (20 vs 16) than the other cameras. The GX9's weakness is that some people find the EVF awkward to work with, although others are fine with it. It has a tilt only LCD screen rather than a fully articulated one. I'm not sure if it is worth the extra money over the GX80 (see below). I'd probably get the GX80 and put the savings towards an extra lens.

Not in the Cashback offer, but maybe these are even better bargains for small cameras. These prices won't last for long either:

Panasonic GX80 + 12-32mm lens.........£400. Arguably the best bargain for a smaller overall package. Enthusiast level camera. A small and compact rangefinder form while still being fully featured. The pancake lens is tiny and excellent quality. Like the GX9 (see above), the GX80 has the same so-so viewfinder. Also the GX80 has a tilt screen, not a fully articulated screen. (Opinion is divided as to which screen type is best.)

Panasonic GX800 + 12-32mm lens.......£300. Extremely cheap, entry level camera and lens combo. It is the smallest and lightest and most basic camera here. It has no viewfinder. It has a flip up selfie screen. It will have fewer external controls. It is aimed more at camera phone upgraders than serious photographers. But the image quality is very good and it is very cheap. Basically they are giving away the camera for the price of the lens!

Grab yourself a bargain while you can!

Re: Last chance for Panasonic Cashback

Bumped because tomorrow 10th September is the last day to get a substantial cashback discount from Panasonic. Anything from £50 to £300 cashback if you get in soon.
