Lumix GX7 Fault, any ideas how to fix

As of this weekend my Lumix has decided it no longer wants to function properly.
The issue being is that it repeatedly forgets the time every time i turn off the camera, in addition to this as soon as i got to view the photos on the camera the camera freezes, locks up and i have to pop out the battery to get it working again.

This even happens when i go to the playback settings via the normal settings menu.

I have tried many different sd cards but the same issue occurs regardless.
I have also tried to reload the firmware but the problem being in doing that is that you have to press the playback button on the camera to install firmwares and as soon as i do this it freezes again so its impossible to do this via the camera.

I should mention that pressing the playback button does load into the viewer and it does show the last picture i've taken, but after that all the buttons stop working and thats when I have to pop out the battery.

Sounds to me like a defective battery.

Didn't think of that but I have 2 batteries and it happens with both so don't think that's the issue

We are talking about an electronic device and so, depending on the luck they might die sooner or later.

Still remember a very old thread that for some reason the owner opened up the case and found his very clean apparently camera indeed has a severely oxidized LCD panel...

A lot of reason and even the atmospheric humidity could cause problem even it has been taken good care all the time, or might has been hit or dropped...

It seems your cam might meet its end. A good time to consider upgrade. I don't think it will be worth to look for repairing.

The date issue would suggest the internal battery of your cam should have been exhausted and can't be recharge when we put in a battery.

I was also thinking it sounded like some kind of electronic short going on, corrosion, water intrusion, etc, that has damaged the main board, including the internal battery connections.

If it was just the internal battery alone, the only thing that would have been affected would be the date and settings memory, but when you combine that with the more significant electronic failures that are happening simultaneously, it's suspicious for a more generalized circuit board failure.

Unfortunately, I think this might be the case, also.

One other suggestion:  If you live someplace very humid, perhaps setting the camera in a sealed container with a dessicant for a few days might help, in case there is some condensation that has gotten into the insides and is causing the problem?  Long shot, I know, but worth a try.

The time reset issue should only happen when you swap batteries (this is usually from a uncharged, weak, or failed internal battery). The fix for that is to recharge the main battery fully and leave it in camera overnight with the camera off. This should recharge the internal battery. If it doesn't, the internal battery may need changing.

Your situation is very unusual if it happens every time you shut off your camera. The freeze and lock up is unusual too.

Given you can't reload firmware, can you at least do a factory reset? Is there any issue with the camera if you don't have a SD card in the slot?

I can factory reset yes but it doesn't make any difference at all.

I'm regard to the no sd card question, also tried, with no sd card no freeze occurs but that's only as it doesn't let me into the playback part of the camera, being as there are no photos

It sounds like the the fixed internal battery may be discharged or faulty. Try inserting fully charged batteries over a couple of days to see if that internal battery recharges else you could keep your camera attached to a mains adapter Panasonic DMC-AC8 or similar cheaper alternative,
