How loud is OIS on the E-M10 III?

I had bith the E-P5 and the E-M10 Mk II and they had really very loud IS systems. The Panasonic G81 (85) on the other hand had a barely audible IS system.

Makes me wonder if that changed on the E-M 10 Mk III or is it still as loud as ever on Olympus bodies?

It's so loud it could wake a Greek public servant who fell asleep at his desk during his 4 hour shift!

Greek mythology is more realistic than this propaganda. They work.

But are you sure it is the OIS that you hear? I suspect it could be the AF that makes the noise. Some older lenses use step motors for the AF.

I can't hear it on mine.  Maybe when inside in a very quiet room but in normal situations it's quite quiet.

It's just the same as on the other two Olys you mention when they are set to activate the IBIS fully on a half-press (so the sound cranks up at that point). Whilst those two can also be set to wait until the actual exposure to do this, the Mark III cannot.

I am surprised by your statement about the G80/81/85, as mine sounds like these Olys on their louder note, even after the firmware update that quietened it somewhat. It doesn't have an alteration on half-press.

By the way, these are the IBIS systems we are talking about - OIS refers to in-lens stabilisation.

OK, yet another untick mark against the Mk3. I didn't like the quiet but persistent noise at half press, so I disabled it on my E-P5 to only work during the exposure where it might be actually needed.

OIS is a lot quieter but in some isolated tomb room then it may disturb someone quite close, in fact, they would need to be very close.

The champion for noise is the old 2 axis IBIS of cameras up to and including E-PL6 age, take a 2 second shot and listen closely (or distantly) for the coffee grinder at work.

IBIS, of course.

Well, I had 2 E-P5 and 1 E-M10 MkII. They all were really loud and the G85 I had was barley noticable. Maybe I am hyper sensitive to this, but the difference was huge. Still don't understand why so few people seem to care. I mean, 3 bodies can't all be lemons, this is just how Olympus IBIS is. Maybe Pana has done it differently as they designed their system years later.

No, not the AF and I only used current lenses, 4 of them.

This is just propaganda to hide the disastrous effects of the hard peg of the Greek currency to the strong core states' currencies which is what the Euro is, A weaker economy locked in to a stronger economy's currency always ends without fail in misery and destitution.

Of course the strong states prosper as the wasting away of the peripheral European economies keeps the Euro down so there is no currency appreciation to raise export prices which would have happened as a balance in the past as importers buy the exporter's currency to pay for imports. Is there any economic process in the modern world which is not designed to transfer wealth from those without enough to those with far too much? You have to wonder.

You get something very similar in all countries where capital cities are a source of high employment, pay better wages, drive up cost of living and housing prices, require more urban services, more public capital is expended and this creates even more jobs ...

More remote areas don’t get the capital injection, wages are lower, but city driven costs are almost as high in the remote areas so the people are the poorer for it.

This becomes a two stage economy within one fixed currency.

The result is that people moan about the urban chaos but love the better money and when they retire if they decide that they can stand the quiet of the remoter areas they find that their humble home can be sold for enough money that will build a palace in the parts with the lower stage economy - far from the urban machine house.  All the delightful headlands become dotted with the mansions of retired urban refugees - places the locals could hardly afford.

This results in a certain assumption by the urban wealthy that somehow their years in the big city rat race left them smarter than those who stayed in the more rural parts.
