How to change camera name on ORF file?

Hello!

I have got E-PM1 and E-PL8.

Capture One does not support E-PL8 files, but supports E-PL7 and E-PL9. These cameras have the same 16 Mp sensor, same optics. How can I change ORF-files from my E-PL8 to open them in Capture One?

The make and model tags in the EXIF are used to control how the vendor specific tags are interpreted. The best way I know to change EXIF data is with ExifTool but their FAQ isn't encouraging when it comes to changing the make and model:

You might give it a try and see what happens though.  Unless you accidentally overwrite the original you have nothing to lose.

I was going to suggest EXIFTool as well. For the specific command line to use, see: http://u88.n24.queensu.ca/exiftool/forum/index.php?topic=4867.0

Alternatively, if it's just for one or a few image files, you could use a generic hex editor (i.e. a program that allows you to edit binary files).

In the past I have done this by using a a hex editor to change the data in the RW2 file. There two places where the camera model is identified, you can find them by asking the hex editor to search for "EPL8".

Changing the "8" to a "9" or a "7" should do it.

In my case I changed "GM5" to "GM1"
