Canon 5D horizontal lines

Good evening,

I am really new to the whole world of full frame DSLR photography. I have bought a Canon 5d Mark I. When I review the picture in the LCD there are two black horizontal lines, top and bottom of the display. These are not present on the actual photograph. Is the aspect ratio of the LCD out? If so how can I adjust it?

I apologise if this is blatantly obvious. Thank you for any help.

Re: Canon 5D horizontal lines

You can't adjust it. I believe the screen is 4:3 and the pictures are 3:2, hence the need for black bars to fill in the extra space. Totally normal and can't be removed. Newer bodies have 3:2 screens to view the pictures without added borders.
