Do I get it right, you dropped the 18-45 and the other is also having troubles?
Was the camera mounted on the lens that fell?

I could say the same about my wine glasses: I thought they would last longer, but they don't, especially if I drop them..;-)

More seriously, the Canon M lenses (no matter metal or plastic mount) are rather well built (for this market segment: inexpensive consumer lenses) and can handle some reasonable abuse, but not dropping.

By the way: even the Canon L lenses don't like being dropped..;-)

Re: EF-M Lenses: Not as durable as I thought...

I just broke my 15-45mm kit lens as well, I dropped it of round knee hight ecause I forgot to properly tighten my Steadicam. I thought it would only cause some damage to the lens and is somewhat usable but no. The inner piece of the lens turned loose! Although, I could still zoom in and out from 15mm-45mm but the focus mechanism doesn't work at all. I could see the lense piece moving inside and the focus changes everytime I manage to move it around. I'm thinking I might either send it to canon for repair or try and repair it my self.
