Re: Sony 24-105 f4 soft right corners?

I tried FM test and it seems corners are equal in sharpness more or less.

What do you guys think?

Below are captures, the figure numbers are as per in the Fred Miranda's post

Mine is certainly worse than yours:

Just looked at the images again after cropping and rotating so the images look identical.

It seems right is weaker on my lens. I guess it is still acceptable or what you think? Did you exchange your lens? Does it still look better than your copy?

Re: Sony 24-105 f4 soft right corners?

Hi

Mine is perfect sharp in entire frame at 24,35,50 mm.

Right upper corner starts to be softer at 70 mm f8 but it's negligible, at f11 is as sharp as other corns.

At 105 mm f8 again right upper corner is, i'd say a softer than at 70 mm, it gets better at f11 but it's there, never really goes away.

How soft that upper right corner gets in comparison to other corners depends on depth of filed - but the difference is there.

I guess it's how they make them - not really "perfect"

But having 24-50 mm perfectly sharp corner to corner and only 105 mm like this, isn't that bad haha

I shoot 105 mm in f11 because of that, i'm gonna put samples here; the upper right corner is a bit further away from focus point, but not that far away.

It's not strict test but it shows what i mean.
