Whew.....Glad It Works!

For the dirt cheap price I paid for it I wasn't sure the 14 year old G6 would still get up and go. These are just snaps in P mode to try out the buttons and menus, I usually shoot in Av mode to work DOF. It may be big, bulky and have a funky silver metallic paint job but I am loving it! I still say 2004-2006 were the best years for small-ish sensor cameras.

Yes, I can't believe how good the deals are now on those "enthusiast-grade" P&S Cameras from yesteryear. Here are some scores I came across for dirt cheap:

Powershot G5: $9 shipped

Powershot G15 (2 years ago): $75 (Pawn Shop find)

Powershot G10 (3 years ago, local ad): $50

(2) Powershot S95 Cameras: $60 (local)

(2) Powershot S50 cameras for a total of $25

Powershot S80: $10 shipped

Sony RX100 (original model, never used, factory sealed, bought locally early this year): $100

Plus, I have scored many, many deals on DSLR cameras..

(2) Canon SL1 cameras with kit lenses, each for $100 (gave to my children)

Sony A6000 with 55-200 lens: $160

Sony A5100 with 16-50 PZ lens: $180

(2) Canon 5D (Classics): $250, $260 respectively

Canon 1Ds (Mark I), with 50mm STM lens: $180

Canon 1D Mark III: $250

Canon 5D Mark IV with 100mm L Macro, and the 24-105 L: $2600

.... and so many more. Today's market with cameras, especially somewhat older, make digital imaging a true bargain. Great find on that G6, OP!

WOW and WOW again! A true bargain hunter! I would love to hear your thoughts on all the models you have/had. I will be looking at the cameras on your list.

This G6 marks the 61st camera I have. I have gotten several "steal-of-a-deal" purchases in the last couple of years. I had the thought "It would be crazy to have a model from all the makers". Most less than $10. Some surprisingly good. I got rather lambasted by some folks over on the Sony forum for having so many P&S cams, so I had to get a few larger sensor cameras. However, I have become a Kodak collector, specifically the models with SK lenses. I shoot with all my cameras. Here's my collection so far....

Top bags L to R: D60 both kits, P880, G6, E-500 both kits

I have another classic Kodak en route......#62!

Thanks for the complements, everyone.  I just try to do the best I can with mother nature and this oldie but goodie cam.

Re: Whew.....Glad It Works!

@Hike Pics,
I don't see a box for your PowerShot A720IS. Where is it?
and you need a PowerShot A590IS!

Cool collection!

Re: Whew.....Glad It Works!

Beside the NX100, to the left, same box as SX210. The index ID card flipped up a little and hard to see the "7".

I will look into the A590. I would like to get a G11, A690 and SD780. I better watch myself or I will become a Canon collector!

Re: Whew.....Glad It Works!

@Hike Pics, I see it now.
The A590IS is nice, but the G6 has a bigger sensor ( 1/1.8 ", CCD). If you have the A720IS, I don't think you'll miss the A590IS too much.
