How to best scan glass mounted stereo slides?

I am new to this forum as well as to photo/film scanning, so please excuse my ignorance...

I would like to digitize my mother's collection of Stereo Realist slides for purpose of easy viewing (i.e., not having to rely upon using the hand held viewer) and possibly for printing. I am considering purchasing the Epson Perfection V550 or the Epson Perfection V600. Should I go with one vs. the other?

I have seen mention in the forum about having to make adjustments for the depth of the cardboard slide mounts. However these slides are sandwiched between thin (about 1/32") layers of glass and taped around the edges.  Will I be able to scan these slides without removing the glass?

Any guidance will be much appreciated!

My guess is that you will get a reflection off the glass. Dust on the glass and fingerprints inside the glass may also show up.

The only way to see is to try it. If it doesn't work then you need to think about removing the slides from the glass holders for scanning.

Buy a pack of cheap disposable microfiber lens cleaning cloths. See if you can buy some pure alcohol from a druggist or use rubbing alcohol. Be sure you use test any alcohol on clear glass and see if it leaves a residue before using it to clean the glass mounts or the slides themselves.
