Great Lens - as good as any Leica 50mm I used on film m3

This lens is really phenomenal
Quick, sharp, light, 75mm, also with the x100f with the 23mm
I bring this lens on my xt 20 best travel setup I have ever had
If you like a great prime with some length and light and quick
This is the lens, good for portraits, even use it on the street

It really is a great lens. So is the 35mm f2. Both very very fast sharp lenses.

I recently bought this lens but haven’t used it much. For the price, size, etc... it seems like a steal. Really glad I picked this one up. Seems great for travel.

I agree. I have both the f2/35mm and f2/50 both such great lenses
I had the f1.4/ 35mm before sold it, too slow, bulky, more bokeh but the f2/35mm was so much more responsive and enjoyable for me to use

The best lenses are those we put in the camera and not the closet

I like the new editions. The new f2 are fast and light and great IQ. Best deals.

I still have my 56 f1.2 even though it's slower to focus as its IQ is just so great.  On the other hand, the 50 f2 and 23 f2 are now the two lenses that live on my X-E2 and X-Pro 2.  They are both lightning fast for AF and the rendition from both is excellent.  For me they make an excellent two body, two lens travel kit.

I always fancied the 50 f2 but held back because no OIS. Then I purchased the XH1 and tried the 50 out in the shop (what a silly thing to do)I`m now over 400UK pounds lighter but have a superb 75mm equi lens for portrait and flowers.

Recently bought a 35mm f/2 with intention of keeping it on my old X-Pro1.  These two are indeed making beautiful music together, just as predicted.  So there's another of those more-or-less permanent installations Fuji seems to be so great at.

Now I am wondering if the 50mm f/2 might be a pleasing addition to the pool of lenses for my X-T10 (and other Fujis yet to come).  This review and the comments are doing nothing to discourage me.

In fact, taken Leica 50mm, you should compare 35/2 to it.

I like 23/2 so much, my favorite 35mm-AOV lens.

I like 75-85 AOV for portrait, this is best done with 56/1.2 or it's poor man's alternative - manual 50mm to 58mm fast lenses from film SLR, adapted.

Having 35mm AOV lens and portrait AOV set of lenses already, I am trying to find, where 50/2 fits for me then.

Use it as the less costly substitute for 56/1.2 with quick AF? There are not quite equivalent, too different rendering. Also I have manual lenses in this AOV, for meditative portrait work.

50mm AOV, I don't use it much, 35mm AOV is my all-time preference for everyday. And if I need it, again I have three options:

  1. 35/1.4 which renders very nice but bulkier, and AF slower,
  2. 35/2 which renders differently, is lightweight and AF is fast,
  3. manual old 50mm fast lens on focus reducer device (which I have already) so almost no crop (1.087 is effectively 1:1).

GAS tells me "look at this cool 50/2 gadget", but logic tells "but for what usage? portrait? get 56/1.2 then"

Good points

I have used the 35 f2 sum summicrons and elmars and also the f2/ 50mm
I have an adaptor and also used on my Fuji xt 20

Alos, having used them on my old M3 and M6 and even IIIF I found something in the Fuji lenses I prefer

The Leica's do an amazing job but I think Fuji has it it out of the park on this one

50mm DR Summicron

I have a vintage DR Summicron for my M3.  Not only can I not use it on my Fuji, I can't use it on any digital Leica.  However, I can use my Canadian 90mm f2 Summicron, which gives lovely bokeh.  It works well from f4 up, OK at f2.8 but is soft and has a lot of CA at f2.

I haven't shot with the Fuji 35 mm f2, but I shot with the 23mm and really liked it.
