samsung EX2F mode dial problem

Recently bought back another EX2F for a good price but unfortunately it suffers from a temperamental mode dial. It often fails to go into the mode you switch to unless you push down on the dial - so I guess some dirt has gotten onto the contact?

Is this an easy fix? Maybe a little bit of WD40 would solve it?

Wow, that all depends, I guess...

...if somehow you can remove the top mode dial?  I wouldn't even know how to do that and I wouldn't suggest just spraying WD-40 sideways under the dial.  Because if that spray got inside the camera somehow - anyway, you get the idea here.

EX2F is an absolutely wonderful enthusiast model and I've not experienced that temperamental shift yet on my copy.  I'd be careful though - but at least you seemingly isolated what you think it is.  After all, you discovered that if you push down on the dial, it goes into the mode you need it to be.  Now the question is how to deal with this.
