The end of innovation. And copyrights are forever. Past down from generation to generation.

This is a cool video by Rick Beato "How ROCK MUSIC is DESTROYING Itself"

Lately I've been into his video series  "What Makes This Song Great". They help bring a deeper connection to favorite music in new interesting ways.

"it requires online platforms to pay publishers a fee if they link to their news content."

This is insane. A link is like telling someone where to find a book – not like giving them an infringing photocopy of a book. I wonder how long this provision lasts once Google News starts filtering its European Web pages to omit any publisher who demands this fee. The publishers may find that they need Google more than Google needs them.

Think of it this way;  now doing a book report in school, you can pretend you made it all up since to post a bibliography would get you in trouble!!!

I wonder if European companies who post links to news articles will be treated as online platforms.

Post a link to a stock analyst's report saying that your company's stock is a BUY … open yourself up to a possible lawsuit unless you're ready to pay, pay, pay.

Post a link to a review of one of your products … open yourself up to a possible lawsuit unless you're ready to pay, pay, pay.

Post a link to a news item about that charity event your company sponsored … well, you get the picture.

They'll be cutting their own throats.  Referrals are a good part about what drives traffic.

"Article 11 has been dubbed the Publishers' Neighboring Right, and could force Google, Microsoft and other platforms to pay publishers for showing news snippets, or linking to news content in what has been dubbed a “link tax” by opponents, and a further threat to an open internet."

It's great.  I write a hackneyed novel, I get protection for 100 years or something (Google Books disaster was proof of that).  Meanwhile, I invest $2 billion making a new drug I get what, 3 years of protection against copiers?
