NX3000 "Check/No lens" issue.

The unthinkable happened, out of the blue, my NX3000 says "Check your lens" when I have an NX lens attached, doesn't communicate with the lens, and it can't control focus/aperture or anything. Also, when I put an adapter (which I am not sure if I had tried before) it says "No Lens".

I tried to reset, and now it doesn't say the "Check your lens" message, but doesn't communicate with any of my NX lenses.

Does anyone have a clue, or similar experience with another NX camera?

Do I have to do a mod/hack to accept adapted lenses?

In electronics, one of the first "gotos" is to inspect the electrical contacts.  If necessary clean them.  Since this is happening with all your Samsung NX lenses it could be that the electrical contacts that need cleaning are on the camera.

Sometimes just attaching/removing the lens will help clean the contacts but it sounds like you've already done that.

Have you recently shot in a dirty environment?

Your adapter most probably is only for MF (manual focus) and wouldn't have any electrical contacts.  If you've used it before you might have had to set the camera to ignore the lens.  But I don't think this would interfere with the NX lenses.

You could also check that the NX lenses are seating properly.  The lens shouldn't be loose or wobbly.  Also the lens should "click" into place.  This is a mechanical latch which makes sure that the lens contacts are properly aligned.  If the electrical contacts aren't aligned they won't work.  To remove the lens you should need to depress the "lens release" button

These are all just general tips.  Let us know how it turns out for you

Sad to hear your burner camera is on the blink. I tried to look for a hack to enable me to connect a non nx lens to the camera and bypass the no lens message but was unsuccessful.

Re: NX3000 "Check/No lens" issue.

Thank you guys. Tried all the general stuff already, the camera was being treated right, never felt, always on some kind of case (leather case/skin plus on a bag usually), and it was our family's go to cam, as the simplicity and size is very convenient to carry around.

I did used it a few times as an on-stage cam with the fish eye and didn't see as much use as my e.g NX1 cameras that I use for work.

Funny, that my 2 least used cameras (NX3000/NX500) have issues, the NX500 dial started acting recently, and changes program, but while, if the NX500 issue gets worst, I may try to fix it through the official channels, the NX3000 doesn't hold the value to worth be fixing.

The only thing I haven't tried, is to flash again the firmware, but it already has the latest (1.11), is it possible to flash it again?

It just doesn't recognize any lens, what part of the camera does that?

The issue happened out of the blue, without any reason, I didn't change lens, I didn't do anything, just switched it on (in house).

Re: NX3000 "Check/No lens" issue.

Try to jiggle the pin in the mount with something nonconductive, it might help.

Even though that was the first thing I did when I noticed the issue, I did it again just now and the camera worked!

Maybe all it needed it was some positive energy from the great benefactor Otto!

Thank you very much guys, the camera is working again!

Hi Guys,

I have the exact same issue already tried firmware and all the other things except jiggling the mount. But what does that look like exactly and how do I do that?

Hope that helps!

You don't jiggle the mount, just the pin as it might be stuck or not moving correctly (so you just help it a bit). You can use anything that fits like toothpick, but I would recommend something that shape but made of plastic so that you don't break it.
