is IQ of Nx300 significantly better than the one of NX1000

I have a NX1000 and a NX1. I travel once a year in south east asia in a backpacker style.

Until now i didnt dare to put the nx1 in my bag, then i use the nx1000.

I have the opportunity to buy a NX300 at a low price (110 euros).

Do you think the nx300 will bring me something more in term of image quality?

It depends on what you mean by "significant."

Color-tonality-wise, there may be only slight differences.  Both feature 20 MP sensors.  The AF system on the NX300 is a bit faster, and the menu system includes additional items from which to select.  Additionally, the NX300 features some additional automatic functions that were omitted from the NX1000.

High ISO-wise, there may not be much difference.  The NX300 is considered more of a step-up model.  The NX-XXXX line of cameras were usually labled as the most entry level of the line, while the NX-XXX were considered the mid-range series (i.e. NX20, NX30).  The NX-X was considered the top end (i.e. NX1).

In the final analysis, you have to decide based on your options here - meaning, are the cameras available to you for easy reference.  Have you been able to play with them, or is it a prospective internet purchase.  For me personally, I'd chose the NX300.  I only had the NX1000 for a week - a loaner, if you will, from a local camera store.  I liked it, but after having actually purchased the NX300, I loved it so much more.

110 Euros sounds like a steal (if not heavily used).

As mentioned above the  NX300 is a more advanced model , (a step up) especially since  it incorporates phase detection AF . Personally I find this to be much more useful and important (much more reliable and accurate) than any incremental improvement of IQ  which probably has more to do with the lens used than anything else.

I use mine with the 16-50 Samsung kit lens and am more than satisfied. If I ever decide to step up from the NX300 it would have to be the NX500 or the NX1.

This is very remote from my experience from thousads of pictures. 2nd generation nx like nx20 and nx1000 were by far worst in color and tonality department. Nx300 was big improvement, nx30 even better. Then nx1 a small step back.

Both feature 20 MP sensors. The AF system on the NX300 is a bit faster, and the menu system includes additional items from which to select. Additionally, the NX300 features some additional automatic functions that were omitted from the NX1000.

Are you talking about video, or stills? Or Both? For video, the AF is much better on the Nx300, and also don't forget you have the smooth 1080p at 60fps. Also in low light conditions the NX300 is much better, and the Nx300 goes up to 3200 ISO in video. In good lighting conditions, with no AF, and if you don't want to do slow mo videos, they are pretty much the same. Well the Nx1000 body is also very different, there is no touch screen, nor AMOLEd, but it is lighter..

Finally i bought a second hand rustic NX3300, one of the last nx camera generation. As i dont want to expose my nx1 to the hazards of a faraway backpack travel, this slick camera will be in my bag with two or three of my nx lenses : 30 mm, 16 mm 20 mm and maybe a 100 mm 2.8 SMC pentax m. I dont want to take any risk with my precious 45mm.
After 2 days playing with this NX3300, i find it easy to use in manual way and it gives good IQ and natural colors (even the red if just a little underexposed).

I used to have NX3000 which is basically like your NX3300 with 16-50 and 30/2.0

Excellent camera for all things except for action (focusing 30/2.0 is slow, shutter lag was too much for me and buffer too small)

Images however were excellent, sharp, contrasty and plenty of DR. For travel it is an excellent choice

Thank you for conforting my choice. Yes, I will use this really good NX3300 mainly for landscapes, monuments, street scenes and portraits.
