Purchasing Canon T6i Options

I’m try to figure out is it worth buying those bundle deals on Amazon or get it from some place like BestBuy.

On Amazon, they sell a Canon T6i bundle for between $750 to $850 depending on the contents of the bundle.  Like for instance:

Canon EOS Rebel T6i 24.2 MP EF-S DSLR Camera + Canon EF-S 18-55mm STM Zoom Lens + EF-S 55-250mm IS STM Lens + SLR Camera Case + 58mm 2x & Telephoto Lens + 64GB Card + Wireless Remote + Complete Bundle

for $819.95.

Granted, some of the stuff in the bundle is not name brands that are not very popular or heard of.  Some will not bundle it with the Canon brand zoom lens.

Outfitts like BestBuy, 47th Street Photo or Ritz Camera will sell you the basics, the camera and the 18-55 lens only or together with the zoom for the around the same price.

Its for my wife who use to do photography years ago and wants to get back into it.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your best bet is to look at what's available in Canon's online refurbished store.  They usually have body/lens package deals and offer full one year factory warranties on all items.

Hi 'Mage, welcome!

Bundles can indeed provide great value, esp the STM lens packages (and the aforementioned Refurb packages).

I would however look at only the bundles with just the lenses included, and not the ones with the other accessories.  Those accessory lenses are usually junk, the cases not ideal, and the mem cards slow.  And don't even think about using any bundled filters.

Save your money and put it toward a SanDisk Extreme Pro card, and then go in person and check out cases.

It's a nice thing you're doing.

Best of luck!

It seems to me nearly $900 for the 760D package is overpriced.

Ok, so is an SLR needed? Digital cameras have changed a lot over the last 10 years and a big SLR isn't necessary for good pics anymore. Consider Canon's G X powershots 3,5,7, and 9. Smaller cameras that get good pics but don't need big lenses and their focal lengths are often better than a simple 3x SLR kit lens

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
