Small white dot

hello, i just bought a new canon m10, i'm not photographer btw.

and i just use it for like two times now.

i noticed there's a very tiny white dot on my screen whenever I'm pointing my camera in black or i connected it in my wifi (since the background is pure black)

i checked if that tiny white dot is in the photo, but it's not.

it cant be seen on the photo but it's there.

Re: Small white dot

If is not in the pics, it's probably a stuck or dead pixel in the display. The manual, usually states that this not a problem and no cause for a return  or fix.

Re: Small white dot

The manual says:

Although the screen (monitor) is produced under extremely high-precision manufacturing conditions and more than 99.99% of the pixels meet design specifications, in rare cases some pixels may be defective or may appear as red or black dots. This does not indicate camera damage or affect recorded images.

I'm having trouble seeing the dot in your image, but since they went to the trouble of saying red or black, and yours is white - I think you should return it or send it in for warranty service. There's no reason to put up for something like that on a brand new camera.

Then you've made a terrible mistake - it's a camera!

That's funny but I'm sure we all know what he means. He is not an experienced photographer.

Any dead pixel on a screen is quite irritating as your eyes will keep wondering to it.

Re: Small white dot

A dead pixel is bad enough (all sub pixels are dark at the defect) but is nowhere near as bad as a stuck pixel, in this case white where the red, blue and green subpixels are all on. The vendor will normally exchange or repair for a stuck pixel. Be assertive or you will grow to hate the camera.
