Magic Lantern advice?

I finally got my T2I updated and Magic Lantern installed! Now I need advice from all you who have experience with it. Please tell me what to do and what not to do with it. I know I won't use much of it , for lack of knowledge. I will be doing some video and need advice on what is possible to improve it with Magic Lantern etc.  Thanks to all in advance.

Wow, it's hard to believe, no response to this on a Canon forum. Is Magic Lantern such old hat that no one uses it anymore?

There's not much as far as what you shouldn't do.

Not everything works perfectly but it does work well. There's little risk in damaging your camera despite the warnings. I've been using it since the 5D2 days and I still use it for my 6D, mainly for focusing peaking so I don't have to zoom in after taking a picture or for the little bit of video that I do.

In general, it'll aid you with video-focused features but it won't necessarily give you better quality. Some things you can do to improve quality are using dual ISO if your camera supports it.

I don't know if the t2i supports RAW recording but that will generally give you better quality but the recording time will be limited.

Thanks so much for the response. If you think of anything else please let me know of it. I was hoping it would help some with sound during video, I just purchased a Rode Video Micro external mic.

Oh, you won't get much help from DPreview when it comes to ML. Your best bet is to browse the ML forums for help.

The Intervalometer is eons better than anything you can do with a stock Canon (for timelapse photography). Here's a link to that section as well as the user guide (definitely read the user guide and play with your ML-enabled camera!):

1. Try out Dual ISO. Activate the module and try ISO 100/800 or ISO 100/1600. Convert the CR2 to DNG via Barracuda https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=9102.0

2. Raw histogram. The raw histogram only works the seconds after you took the picture. Doesn't work in playback mode. https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12096.0

3. Focus stacking. Youtube with subtitle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VuQPbzH7E8

4. About raw video. Your 550D has a slow write speed, around 21MB/s. I don't think you can overclock it. With 6D I can go from 43MB/s to 71MB/s. One guy has destroyed his card after that.

why not ask on the magic lantern forums, those guys will be the experts. Strange though you know nothing about it yet install it on your camera which does have a slight risk of bricking the camera.
