My brand new Huawei P20 Pro

Although I have some problems with chinese products, I fell in love with it at the moment I first saw this phone and bought it.

The display is excellent, it is very fast in everything you do. The camera is very "clever" and the front one takes excellent selfies. my only problem is that I was used to have the lens(es) in the center of the body and now it is in the right top.

The original back silicone cover has nice feeling and the half price of a similar Samsung (S9+) cover

I will never really understand why some companies put the camera in some random corner.

So far still trying to liek it. Some images are not sharp (focus issue). But wortst of all: RAW (dng) barely usable due to redish color cast in the middle of the frame which is hard to correct. Too bad.

If you want to work with RAW files from this phone, use RawTherapee. IrfanView blows highlights and hives yellowish greens, Lightroom gives strange green and redish center.

I noticed more or less the same  with the Mate 9 Pro. Fortunately Capture One has an option to correct this. Just shoot a neutral white target, and any color cast, light fall off etc. will be automatically corrected. Save the setting and you can apply it to all the raw files.

Thank you. Would need to buy the "non"-Sony version for that. But I have created a preset in LR which is not perfect but works.

Why bother with raw...............use jpg.and let the AI sort things out for you.

Much superior result...........and think what you could do with all the time you save.

Because RAW allows me to recover highlights that are lost in JPEG. Since I am working on most images anyway, there is little additonal time neeed, if any. AI is doing all kind of strange things to the image.

I'm sure I wouldn't understand such an illogical idea, and nor would I want to.

You are right, it isn't random because it's meant to look exactly like the iPhone, complete with silly notches.

Samsung has no need to copy because they are Samsung, and Sony would rather lose money than copy anyone, gotta give them credit for that. Ironically I think the design of recent Sony phones is far better than any iClone.
