How to control apertur on Panasonic GH5s?

With all of my previous cameras. Which included various modes of Sony RX-100, Canon 6D, 5D Mark IV, Panasonic GH4 I'm usually able to control aperture while filming.

Based on what I did with the GH4, I set my new GH5s to [camera-icon]M mode.

I don't find "Exposure mode S" where it used to be on the GH4. Actually I don't find it anywhere. Am I missing something?

Thank you

ANSWER:
Canon EOS 6D Panasonic GH5S Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4

Where did you have it on the GH4?

On the GH5s, doesn't it appear on whatever control (usually the front dial) that you have mapped it to?

I found it by touching some red icon on the upper left of the touch screen.

Not found in the menus (yet).

Yes it's a dial (not necessarily the front one, if I remember well, if you switch between Canon and Nikon, they're inverted.

But by default, in [camera-icon]M mode, it looks like the exposure is set to full auto-mode or P.

As I replied in a parallel thread:

On the GH4, it was called Expose mode (or something like this) in the video/[camera-icon] menu.

On Sony RX-100 Mx and Canon EOS, it was similarly located in some menu.

Doesn't that just switch the exposure mode, not control aperture directly.

In Movie A and Movie M mode, I just use the front dial while recording, the aperture works fine. I think that is the default setting, not sure.

In menu, the setting is called Exposure Mode, should be in the early pages of the movie settings menus.

Maybe the title wasn't clear enough, but what I mean was "how to switch to Exposure 'S' mode while in video manual mode.

The fact that I could then change the aperture with a dial seemed obvious so it didn't cross my mind that the question could be misread.

So far, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't see "Exposure Mode" in any of the video menus.

I think you are right - the title isn't ambiguous.

When it comes to video, there have been some pretty remarkable questions asked by people who have just bought a multi$K camera. It certainly pays to cover off the basics.

Menu> [Creative Video] > [Exposure Mode] > [P]/[A]/[S]/[M] is how it is done on the GH5 (which I use), and the following video is Panasonic explaining for the GH5, GH5s and G9

Certainly I find it easier to just use the icon on the screen.

I got it now, it was in the first video menu. But for some reason it was always displaying page 2/2, hence I though this menu had only 5 items. But Exposure Mode is the first item of page 1/2.

Thank you.

(Now when I get some time, I should check out the difference between video [camera-icon]M and single M modes and menus and try calling things by their name ... )

That's great, and happy that I was able to help; however, it is a reflection on the poor UI design that you (and I suspect many others) appeared unaware of the use of the top left icon to change exposure mode on the GH4, and as an user you should probably have already known that. The same icon is also important to step through the C3-1/2/3 Custom Modes on the GH5s (as it was on the Gh4 previously).

I'm guessing you're a pretty decent videographer to have bought a GH5s, would love to see examples of what you can do with it.
