750D (T6i) for 350€ (350$) good upgrade or money loss?

Hello,

A major supermarket has two new Canon 750D body only for sale at 350€ each, less tax, plus change that's about 350$... I find the same model for 450€ online delivered.

The catch is the boxes are in a terrible state, as if they had been used to play rugby!

I currently have a 600D, the flash is not working since I fell on top of my bag but everything else is working fine and I almost never used this flash, I have a small speedlight anyway.

I spare my money to find a good mirrorless replacement but this offer is very tempting as I have more than enough right now. This would dent my budget by two or three years since I don't want to spend it all on camera body.

Do you think it is worth going back to this shop and ask to check on the camera state?

Will my current grip work on this model?

What would you do?

Problem with that is the store might only be able to check it's cosmetic state so the only way to check is to buy it and check out every function yourself and return it if you find anything amiss.

Will my current grip work on this model?

Don't know about the grip sorry

What would you do?

I'd only buy it if I felt the upgrade was sufficient

What would I do? I have two Canon T2i (550D) cameras and one Canon T3i (600D) camera. When I upgrade I would prefer something like the Canon 77D, 80D, or T7i (800D) camera. I don't think the Canon T6i (750D) was advanced far enough for me to get it. I'm sure it's a great camera and it's an improvement over what we have now. That's just my preference. I'd rather spend a little more and get the better camera.

What should you do? Get it if you want, if it meets your needs and budget constraints. Have fun with whatever you do. I like multiple cameras too, so if you are like me it could be another toy for you to enjoy.

I don't know about the grip. I do not use one.  I hope that helps.

The 18mp sensor in the 600D is okay but the sensor on the 750D is good upgrade in IQ. You're also getting the AF system of the 7D/70D and that's a good step up from the AF in the older rebel bodies. Overall, everything is just better, including the screen and the responsiveness.

Whether it's worth it, it just really depends on what you shoot. I like the colors a little better on the 750D and high ISO is better. On the IQ end, that's what you're gaining.

If you're after IQ, might not be worth it if you shoot in good light most of the time and if you don't need the extra resolution. If you want better noise performance and a more responsive camera, then it's worth it.

Another thing to look out for is the SL2 refurbished from the Canon store. You'd get a slightly better sensor with great liveview focusing, although similar AF system as lower-end rebels.

As far as the condition of the boxes, that's tough to say. You can have beat up boxes and everything could still be fine. These cameras are pretty sturdy and can take a decent beating but they do break so who knows.

If the camera powers on, nothing looks broken, and you can take pictures with it without any signs up trouble it'll probably be okay. The only problem is that you're likely not going to have warranty if it's not from an authorized dealer so if it goes bad a few months down, you're out of luck.

Good News: The camera is a step up in every way from the 600D, including image resolution.

Bad News: The sensor tech is a generation behind the latest bodies (no dual pixel AF, or "shoot in the dark at ISO 100 and push It 5 stops" level "ISO invariance" as DPR calls it).

You'll need new batteries, too.

I don't think so. But maybe I am wrong on that. It's just Canon has changing batteries later on.

What would you do?

I have different focus now, MILCs, so my situation is different. In your case, I think the 750d is a good upgrade. Just try to secure some sort of warranty, even if 3 months for the just in case happening.  I think you will find the AF in the 750d a big improvement. And some minor improvements in IQ.

Go for it!
