35 mm F/2 IS on APS-C

Really very useful. Fine for portraits or even group portraits and the odd landscape or street shot. In low light, if your subjects agree to stand still, one can easily take excellent photos at 1/40. I use it with the EOS M6 (same as 80d). Highly recommended.

I'm on vacation now in Taiwan. Spent few days in HongKong last week. This lens was on my M5 most of time. I agree with you.

I am taking this combo as a 2nd to my 5D MKIV.  I have tested it and it gives me a new appreciation for the M5.

"I don't like it".

Re equivalence a 56mm f3.2 stabilised equivalent feels really meh to me. Neither wide nor portrait length really.

The 24mm f2.8 IS , not a bad idea but why so slow, wouldn't an f2 be more in keeping with being so light-starved you need IS? I feel like they chose the spec just because they wanted to sell it at $500 and make a nice profit margin on it.

Yes a very very nice  lens on APS-C as all of the aberration's are cropped off - hazy/slightly fuzzy edges, vignetting and most annoyingly strong coma at f2.0-f/3.2 only show on full frame.

Yeah it's all right on crop but I tend to agree with the post that its focal length isn't the most useful. This lens is wonderful but in general I'd rather use it on FF.

One FF lens that I do really like to use on crop is the 16-35 f/4L IS. Useful range, good quality.

If it's a *Single* Lens Reflex, why do I need so many lenses?
