Screen lag with focus peaking

Hi all,

I've noticed that when I activate the focus peaking on the EP5, the framerate drops and there is an annoying lag on screen.

It's also visible with the EM1.1 (with both EVF and screen), but it's less annoying than EP5.

I guess it's due to a lack of processing power.

Anyway, I wanted to ask the EM5.2 and EM1.2 if there is the same lag/ framerate drop with those models? Do you see any difference in EVF quality when focus peaking is active or not?

Re: Screen lag with focus peaking

I don't use back button focusing.  With half press of the shutter, the E-M1.1 EVF darkens while focusing, but I don't notice that much lag (using the FTs 12-60 which is on that camera).

With the E-M1.2, there  is no obvious change in the EVF when using the 300mm f4, it just highlights the in focus area.  I actually almost never use manual focusing with the E-M1.2, so I had to check to see what happens.  It focuses so accurately and quickly with CAF focus, that I almost never use anything else.

Probably some on the E-M5.2.

IIRC, the lag is a lot less on the E-M1 II. It's got a lot more processing grunt than the others. It's very usable.

Re: Screen lag with focus peaking

There is a small lag in the EM5-Mii but it is not a problem - there would not be many scenarios ( maybe a slow pan with focus following??) where this would be a problem, if anything it is not dissimilar the feeling that one is "fighting the IBIS" when slow panning in a movie recording.

There is no lag in the EM1-Mii
