NX1 prices dropping like crazy

I've been watching since the A7III announcement. Earlier this year, NX1s were consistently going for about $1000-$1050. This week alone, there have been multiple body only NX1s go for $800-$850. I saw one on eBay with the $100 grip go for $811.

I also saw an NX1 - 16-50S kit go for like $1200. And the 16-50S still sells for around 700.

That may not sound like /that/ much of a price drop but it's $200 in a month. It really looks like the A7III is the first camera in 4 years that really bested the NX1 enough to make people switch.

The glass is still up there. And some, like the 85mm and the 50-150, don't come up often. But what this says to me is that there's going to be some real value to be had if you buy into this system in the near future. Yes, I know it's a dead system. But if the S lens prices start to drop because everyone has offloaded their NX bodies, then you'll be getting a camera that's nearly as good as what 2018 has to offer elsewhere for pennies on the dollar by comparison.

If you can get an NX1 and a 16-50 for $1200, and someone says it's a waste to put that into a dead system - consider that the equivalent for an A7III is $4000. And the equivalent in a FUJI is around $2500.

considering there is a fire sale on EOSHD, i'd imagine the last holdouts have moved on

In 2018 there were 5 people selling NX, (one is the op in this thread!), 2 selling NX500, and 1 that wanted to BUY NX1, and on normal used prices (-rather high for a dead system, the cameras of that year are sold for peanuts right now, do not forget).

EosHD has one of the strongest NX communities, so I wouldn't call this a fire sale.

@m43forme could explain us how the used market goes, as it seems to sold a lot of NX related stuff recently.

Re: NX1 prices dropping like crazy

Cheapest NX1 on ebay is now 900 with offer (body only), then next 1100+. On bid the cheapest is 750 and still has 3.5 days to run.

You made me hope they dropped to <500 and I went on ebay lusting for one only to be disappointed later

NX500 on the other hand are dropping. Down to 350 as min price now from 450 a month ago.

haha! Next year for sure!

that makes sense, NX1 is the only pro mirrorless APS-C together with the Fuji X-H1, or whatever it's called.

They do offer better grip, battery life, extra features/buttons/in-out, (for all those you will need the battery grip on the Fuji though, and it is already bigger and heavier than the NX), and that's it (in the video sense of course, I mostly talk about video, in photography you can add the X-T2 and that's that).

There are a lot of competing small mirrorless to go now, even though the NX500 exceeds most entry level cameras of 2018, still you can find good deals in the used market (especially Panasonic), and Sony cameras, even a6300, are cheap as chips, and most importantly, not abandoned.

I couldn't think of letting any of my NX cameras go at the moment though.

Not until we see the Canonikon mirrorless offerings, and that will take a couple of years to shape out, so, happy 2020 my trustworthy NX system!

Even selling everything now, gain 1 or 2 thousands of euros (more, than wait a year or two), isn't a big deal, if you consider that the top full frame cameras and lenses cost even more, while I can still use the ones I have now (so they earn their worth), while I am not sure if I was buying GH5/Fuji or Sony a6xxx now, that would be my system in 2021(I am expecting Canonikon to be really aggressive in the mirrorless front from now on, Canon already said so from the most official lips).

I've kept an eye on the NX system since I jumped into it from m43 last year. I paid $1500 for an NX1, a 16-50S, and a 45mm kit. I could have turned around and parted that out for around $2000 easily.

From about summer 2017 until march 2018 (Sony announcement), NX1 bodies were consistently selling for about $1050 and the 16-50S kit was going for about $1650.

I had some extra NX gear that I was trying to sell and had a really hard time moving it. Ended up selling a body for like $875 when last december I sold one with more shutter actuations for $1035.

There's been a slight uptick in NX1 bodies for sale, but glass is still not readily available. I sold my 85mm a few months ago and have been kicking myself since. I've had an alert setup on Bokeh Market, and only one has come through in the last two weeks (over priced of course).

I cannot find any NX1 selling at ebay.co.uk... Am I missing something out here? Thanks

Shipping, duties, VAT would make it 25% more expensive to buy from US. He should be looking at the German ebay(.de).

Sakis knows his stuff. Plenty of NX sold from Germany. It seems the market for NX was really big there. I have bought my NX500/NX3000 and lenses fromfrom there.

Funny thing. Were visiting the Acropolis a few days ago, stayed there a couple of hours and I saw: A couple of bridge cameras and a couple of compacts, some Canonikon dSLRs, just 3 mirrorless: a hipster with an entry level Fuji (brown and silver!) one Eos M, and yes, a NX300! 1/3!!

Less and less dSLRs around, and mobile phones dominate completely, too many on selfie sticks!

Re: NX1 prices dropping like crazy

Just wondering where nx500 and nx1 prices are headed. I see wildly different prices on ebay. cannot make sense of it really. I panic purchased and sold my nx1 but still have nx500 which is super badass and I've got some great proprietary glass. This is the most anxiety producing camera I've ever owned. Damn you Samsung!!

Today I was using the NX500+10mm for family photos. I will keep them until the end of time!

Tell me a similar combo. Please do..

I may sell a few lenses and flashguns because I have dozens of lenses (FD, M42, M43, EF, EF-S) but do not consider abandon the system, yet!

I will let the full frame war to pan out a bit, and decide later. Sigma FP will be an interesting release.

There are new cameras announced almost every day. Better to sell everything right now (or a year ago!), or keep everything until they melt. Oh, and get another NX1 for around 500$€£.

I will support my little company with probably a video camera (P4K, P6K, Z cam?) though. This is where the revolution is happening right now, in compressed raw video formats, and no hybrid can offer this, yet.

I'm holding on to all my nx kit for the time being. The main reason is because it's so good and there's nothing available now that I feel can replace it.

I think if you do want to sell, now is a good time as prices seem to be high, at least in the UK. Here the NX1 and nx500 are very difficult to find, and as such command a high price.

I believe 500-600€$£ is doable in this era. Cameras are getting really cheap these days, and NX1 is the best professiobal APS-C camera still. X-T3 has better specs, but not a better body and ergonomics.

I have the Samsung NX 10mm and I am loving it. It is so easy to use, the image in the middle is transform free, very close focusing and very fast focusing, exceptionally small.

No other APS-C/FF system has such lens, a diamond.

Buying new at a bargain price at approx. $800-1,500 is attractive and might well be worth it  but buying a used one at that  price is definitely a gamble.

It depends really, I bought mine used and it came with a 2 year warranty, however I'm not sure what would have happened if I had made a claim.

I'd probably avoid buying from somewhere like eBay unless it was a really good deal, although at least with eBay there's some protection for a period time after.

I think when my nx1 fails I'll have to get another one second hand or else try to sell all the lenses, which may not be an easy task.

One with the short lens $1600 for two months, guess it will come down. And tonight one with same lens for $1000, will check what happens. Same person the long lens for $700. Seller has not got any evaluation, and I'm not interested.

And NX1 now $800. Guess no one will buy.

And today one NX500 with kit lens and 50-200. For $220! Gone in a few minutes. Usually around 500.

And one 85mm at 550. Seller says very few around. And very few will buy.
