Big Air

We had a big watersports event on our village over Easter - kite and sailboarding, and paddleboarding.

Things did not go as planned (there was even a rescue helicopter) and I had other family commitments so couldn't spend any time at all at the event. I was able to grab a few shots from the kite Big Air competition, but TBH it wasn't great - almost dark on a very overcast day and failing wind.

All handheld, tired old obsolete G7 (doesn't even have IBIS! Oh no!) and 100-400 in a cradle I assembled for it. Rough jpgs edited in Picasa.

Wide range of people into kiting these days, and the gear is fantastic; the foils are stunning to see in light winds as they can point extremely high and are very graceful. And fast! We live in interesting times.

All under control...

...really.

See?

Again, very much under control...

This looks easy...

...this doesn't. So much could go wrong here.

Maybe better luck next year.

nice work, this and windsurfing are my main sports subjects so its great to see someone else involved

We are only just beginning to see foilers off our local beach as the water is very shallow for a good way off-shore

(We also have a special brand of lunatic windsurfers too, he completes this move by gybing then firing himself of the end of the boom at the end of the gybe )

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!
