The best prime for an amusement park
2

This is not a question; it's the answer!  I went to Universal Studion Hollywood yesterday and shot exclusively with the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 and my trusty backup Olympus E-PL6.  Although there were a handful of moments where something longer or shorter would have been nice, the 20mm really fit the bill perfectly.  I really felt sorry for the fools with their Nikon and Canon APS-C cameras and dim zoom lenses :-D.

Given that almost all of your images are shot at base ISO in daylight stopped down are you sure those suckers with their zoom lenses had it wrong And maybe they had a wee sneaky prime in their camera bag

I went there. Only used a prime on two brief occasions, both at night.

when I went in February, I brought a small sling bag (Link to it here) but it was able to hold my Pen-F, 4 lenses (3 of which weigh nothing and 2 of those 3 being very small) as well as my daughter’s E-M10+14-42.  For the vast majority (90%) a single 20mm (or anything between 16-23mm) prime would not have worked for me.  And I was so glad to have the 12mm on my PL lens, it made all the difference in some shots.

I prefer great zoom lenses for theme parks (and most other things too) - it makes getting the shot I want soooo much easier. And sometimes it’s the only way to get the shot without having to change lenses.

I really felt sorry for the fools with their Nikon and Canon APS-C cameras and dim zoom lenses :-D.

I feel sorry for people who limit themselves to just a single prime for travel photography and miss so many great photo opportunities.

I had action, landscape, low-light, architecture and portraiture and some animal photographs.  The setup aquited itself very admirably.

I prefer something longer in amusement parks. I tend to shoot people (I'm with) rather than the items in the park. Subjects can be far away (in rides) and when they're nearby, the park allows ample room to take a few steps back
