Hello,

Is anyone farmilier with the Canon EF 35mm 1.4 L USM?

I bought one that I quickly exhanged because the focus ring was loose/woobly. The new example has exactly the same problem. The serial numbers for both are very close to each other so I ordered one from another store. The serial number is completely differtent and this example also had the wobbly focus ring.

See for example this video: https://t.co/Aed9pPBAXa

Is this something that is normal with this model or am I just getting bad copy's?

It's regarding the version II

Why is that a problem? My 35LII does not have a visible wobble. I can feel that something is moving up and down but I cannot see it.

Hello,

I've recently purchased the EF 35mm 1.4L USM II lens as well and also discovered a slightly wobbly focus ring. The focus can be moved about 1mm in axial direction and as it touches the edges of the fixed part of the lens it does some sound.

Is this normal for such a price class? I own the 135mm F2L and 300mm F4L USM lens as well and don't have such "annoyance".

Since the lens is working properly I don't have a need to exchange it against a new one, which hopefully would not have this problem.

Can anybody confirm the upper mentioned behaviour of the lens?

Same issue on the version II of this lens that I have. I don't think it's a defect. Just the way it is.
