OSLO – NORWAY – TOURIST IN MY HOMETOWN – FUJIFILM X-T2 & ZHIYUN CRANE

One gets really blind of photo-opportunities in ones own city. But when you are a tourist in another city, you see everything in a different way. strolling your own town, with the mindset that you are on visit, can be a way of seeing your city from a totally different perspective. So I decided to do a Video this time, with this goal in mind. This is Oslo, a cold winter’s day (-8°C). I set out as a tourist in my own hometown for a day.

All shot with the Fujifilm X-T2, Fujinon 14mm f2.8 and the Zhiyun Crane (V1). The edit has been done in Final Cut Pro X.

Constructive criticism is welcomed!

Here are some screenshots from the movie

I am going to visit Lofoten in a couple of weeks and will have an afternoon in Oslo on the way. Any suggestions? I enjoyed the video.

Thank you Peter.

Depends of what you want to see. But if you are after the regular sights, I recommend walking from the central city train station (Jernbanetorget/ Oslo-S) and on the main street "Karl Johans gate" all the way up to the royal palace. You have the parliament on the left side on your walk. Then walk a bit back, and down to the City Hall. You can then walk down to "Aker Brygge" and "Tjuvholmen". You will from there have (Expensive) restaurants and shops, and a view over to the "Akershus festning" (Akershus fortress)

Follow the red line

You also have places like "Vigerlandsparken" if you want to se parks with states etc. And there is the  Holmenkollen ski-jump. Depens on how much time you have...

Hope it helps

I really enjoyed the vieo, the editing and synching to the music was very impressive. I have an ageing Mac Pro that can't cope witht he large files form the T2. The quality of your video is something to aspire to. Well done.

Great edit. Such a nice city to shoot. Do you find the t2 to produce very noisy video? I have an X-t20 and the video was very noisy. I noticed the subway scene seemed to have a bit of the noise I was experiencing, but that may have been a youtube encoding artifact. Youtube compression really kills video quality

Thank you!

Actually I find the noise handling ok under normal situations. The subway shot has a lot of noise, I know. I only had some seconds to prepare the camera when the subway came. I think I was at a higher f-stop, and turned the ISO to high. The shot was also underexposed and had a wrong colorbalance. I was thinking of dropping the shot in the film, but wanted a shot with not so much movement, so I kept it despite the high amount of noise.

E.g this video was shot a a quite high ISO, but is stil acceptable noise wise I think (Dont remember the exact ISO)
