Best lens for street photography and weddings

I really enjoy using this lens. I use for group shots on my 5D or as a walk-around on my XT. It delivers a high number of keeper every time out. I have used it very effectively outside at night for campfire shots. It is a solid investment for crop or full frame cameras.

I had used it for a lot of weding and eventa - here is a photo session that i shot with Canon 35 - sedinta foto

Re: Best lens for street photography and weddings

Agreed, the 35L is a fantastic lens, and this is true for both Mark I & II versions.

And as a wedding lens it is wonderful, but is it ideal for weddings?  Sure, if all your shots require just 35mm I suppose, and even if you factor in feet-zooming, there are better for weddings.

Consider this better kit: the 24-70L F2.8 in combination with the 70-200L F2.8; and if you want to add a little more spice, I'll throw in the 8-15L Fisheye, but this last one is not what I see as essential.  One can shoot an entire wedding with those two zooms alone.

In general, the best wedding photogs do the best job with the least amount of kit, and with few exceptions.  There are exceptions.

I think if a wedding photog has at least 1 assistant, then using 100% primes or combo of primes & zooms would work the best.  Otherwise 1 shooter shooting with 100% primes with no assistant is going to get a real workout.
