I bought a Fuji Finepix S2 Pro in early 2003 having waited 6 months for my order to be satisfied as supply was limited.

I still have this camera and still use it occasionally and with a good quality lens attached it is still capable of excellent pictures.  I always like the feel of the camera with its deeper body but the rear screen was virtually useless in terms of assessing image quality.

For me, its one major weakness was the use of 4 rechargeable AA batteries coupled with 2 CR123 batteries.  In those days rechargeable AA batteries were of quite low capacity and for me didn't provide many shots.

I keep it only because it is probably worth nothing in terms of resale or trade in, even if anyone were interested.

The notion that $2000 was affordable in 2002 is funny to me.

I know everything is relative
Compare with Contax Digital N ($ 7,000.00)
or the Canon EOS-1D ($ 9,000) of the time !!!

Nikon D100 (400 ISO) - Sigma SD-9 (400 ISO) 100%

When I think of all the money spent on digital cameras since 1999, I get a little sick. But it has been an amazing journey. My first DSLR was the D1X (still have), followed by the D100 (just recently bought the farm). But in camera bodies alone, I've spent in excess of $27,000 From model to model I've had the privilege of experiencing the evolution of the imaging sensor (some say being the guinea pig). Its been fun.

I got into DSLR photography with the D200.  The main point of upgrade from the D100 for me was the ability to use light metering with manual Nikon lenses.  I went on to the D300 mainly for Focus Tuning as the D200 images always looked just a bit off of sharp.  I was a reluctant convert to digital, especially for B&W, but wouldn't go back to film now.  Still some desire to have B&W film response to filters, but am willing to forgo that for the multiple conveniences of digital.
