Grip hand grip for E-PM2?

I haven't seen any grips made for the E-PM2.

Does any body know if the Fotodiox Pro All Metal Black Hand Grip for Olympus OM-D E-M10 Camera or the one for the E-PL3 selling on eBay would work with the E-PM2 even if it's not a perfect fit?

I'm using a couple of bg legacy lenses and would like to have a better grip when focusing.

Thanks

A few years ago, I made a grip for my EPL5 from a sheet of nylon, a wood dowel and a bit of rubber cut from a Totes. It works well with the EPL5 and the P100-300.

Get a half case.

I bought a cheap vinyl case for mine when I had one a few years ago, and just used the bottom. It worked perfectly.

This one is very much like the one I got (except mine was purple )

https://www.ebay.com/itm/leather-camera-case-bag-for-Olympus-PEN-EPL6-E-PL6-black-brown-coffee-NEW/122193790278?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D47300%26meid%3De688f9e8a92144f2bcb438d9a31e58d4%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D122030061229&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

You can also splurge and get a leather half case (but I can't tel you anything about this one as I haven't used it):

Thanks. Not what I had in mind, but maybe it'll improve the grip enough to make it work.

I think you want one for an E-PL5, not 3. I have one for my E-PM2. It fits, not perfectly. Small gap between the camera grip and the metal one. Bottom plate is configured to accommodate the flip screen, but a non-issue.

It does work. I’ll try to post a pic later. Just an insomnia reply now. 😎

Re: Grip hand grip for E-PM2?

You can see the gap here between the camera grip and the plate. I've thought of using a piece of foam tape on the grip of the plate, but it has never been an issue.

Because the tripod socket is placed similarly to the E-PL5, you can open the battery compartment with the plate attached.

Can't remember the manufacturer. Believe I got it on Amazon, but haven't found the order e-mail. But any E-PL5 plate should work similarly.

It's not a super-comfortable grip. The space behind it, where the strap lug is, can feel awkward, but it does allow you to handle a much larger lens comfortably.

Thanks! This will do... I found it on eBay... $16 free shipping.

Btw, what is the perpendicular plate on the left side for? Can one take it off?

Btw, do you like that fish eye lens? Looks like fun...

It's just another plate for a tripod mount (portrait orientation). Yes, you can remove it with a hex wrench.

The fisheye is fun. It's mostly on there as a body cap at the moment.

I know I'm a little late to the game, here, and it sounds like you've found what you need, but I highly recommend using sugru to augment and reshape the existing grip. I did this on my E-P5 and have found it to be extremely useful, especially since it's not something I have to take off or put on, and no doors or ports are blocked because of it. They have black sugru, which blends right in with the camera.

I'm sort of a maker, too, so half the fun for me is MAKING the thing I think I need..

I'm not sure I want something permanent. Does it come easily/cleanly? Is it hard as plastic?

Thanks

Does it come off cleanly? It depends. I don't remember offhand if the EPM2 has a removeable grip like the EPL5, but if you put sugru onto the camera body, you could get it off cleanly with a razor, but I'm not sure you'd want to. If you applied it to the grip like I did, it's permanent. I've used this to support shower baskets on a tiled wall, and removing is from a hard surface is pretty easy.

Is it hard as plastic?

Have you ever used those silicone baking pans/molds/cooking aids? It's like that. It's not slippery, gives just slightly like dense rubber. It's actually pretty perfect for a grip. A lot of people use it just for adding grip to random things or repairing grips. For me, my heaviest lens is the 12-40/2.8, and I've added just enough grip to make that comfortable. I've also got a 45-175 which is longer, but lighter.

The thing I like about this sugru is that I was able to shape the grip just how I needed it. It doesn't stick out from the camera body in any way. It doesn't impede taking the camera in or out of a bag. I even textures the surface of it by pressing a cloth on it. You could even make it shinier or less grippy if you put plastic wrap on it.

Sounds like a very useful product. I'm inclined to get the E-pl5 grip, because when I use light lenses the Suguru grip will not work. Or I might look for a way to make a grip like your but removable.

Thanks!

Just get a simple cheap thumb grip that slips into the flash shoe, it keeps the camera small but adds a heap to its stabilisation and handling.

gotta be careful with standardized thumb grips. the bacl dial is close to the hotshoe. best to try these in store rather than online.
