Great value nd performance
1

I bought this lens as an option for telephoto when travelling.  At 375 grams it is about half the weight of the 70-200mm F/4L USM and provides a slightly longer reach as well as IS.

Its focus is fast.  The added bonus of the STM motor is its quietness, making it ideal for video work.

I have been really impressed with the image quality for the price.  This little lens simply performs.

I find that I put it in the bag on most occasions now and always have a tele option close at hand.

Just a quick update.  Took this lens to the Commonwealth Games swimming on Saturday.  The official line was your camera had to be under 30cm with lens fully extended.  The 55-250mm fitted the bill nicely

I was really pleased with the output from this lens in a sport environment.  Admittedly the light was good but for the price it did a good job.
