Why two identical GH4 produce different footage?
1

I have two identical GH4 set ups (Firmware, Lens, Vlog-L and other profiles, memory card, setting) for shooting stereoscopic VR. But one camera footage has a red cast and slightly more saturated. I have switched the lenses, memory cards and also rerecorded externally and I have still got the same result. Can't figure out why? appreciate any help.

Do they both use the same white balance setting? Just guessing.. (and kicking your unanswered msg back to the frontpage).

I think the guy above me likely nailed it. White balance would be the most likely issue, I think. However, it's also always possible that there has been some sort of unintentional damage done to the sensor or metering system.

Probably for the same reason that you can get different colour casts even if you shoot the same scene twice with the same camera - "automatic" white balance.   If you want to eliminate the differences between the cameras, then you need to defeat all of the automatic options by choosing manual white balance, manual ISO, etc. etc.

Even there you may find small differences, so be prepared to tweak your footage in post.  Fortunately, the eye's stereoscopic separation is far more sensitive to edges than to colours.

White Balance is on 5600K manual and every settings on manual and identical. They were both purchased new.

Have you checked the WB adjustment graphs which are present on all WB settings (including Auto and Kelvin)? Press WB, select your set then touch down arrow.

If one of these has been knocked from the default central position it could explain the issue. If not, you might be able to adjust the two cameras so the WB matches up.

Similarly, check the settings on your selected Photo Styles (profiles) if you haven't already.

If they're brand new and you've made sure that all the settings, including white balance, are identical, I would go back to the store (or any store) and try a 3rd GH4 to see what result you get from footage with the exact same settings.

If your red cast is the only odd camera out, then I would return it.
