A850 in 2017

I have a question for you guys. Would it be advisable to buy an A850 still? There is one locally for $200 which seems pretty good for a 24mp full frame camera.

Also, do all Minolta lenses work on it?

Of course, if it's in good condition. US$200 is a pretty low price. KEH is currently selling an EX condition A850 for $822. I'm just thinking out loud that there's something broken or it's a very tired wedding camera.

Otherwise, the IQ of my A77ii (APS-C) and A850 (FF) are about equal. Plus you get that shallow DOF goodness of FF. Minolta AF (Maxxum) lenses use the very same A-mount Sony uses today so no adapters are needed - just mount and shoot.

If you're into fast burst shooting, the A850 isn't for you as it's only 3 fps.

Well, some days ago I was looking just for fun the prices asked on the used market for the trusty A700 - and those were around that price you found for the A850 which is FF and more recently released.

So it may be worth to investigate a bit further the reason for such a low price. Cam may be defective (for possible use of some still working parts for a repair of another unit) and/or heavily used. Also possible though that the seller simply has no clue about its real price but not very likely.

A cam accepts all A-Mount lenses from Minolta, Sony and 3rd party suppliers like Tamron, Tokina, Sigma etc.

So I looked again and the person upped the price to $300. Not sure what to think.

I would think that the seller reads these forums :-).

It's a nice camera and one of the last 2 FFs with optical viewfinders, so I would expect it to stick around this value for a while.
