Any app to transfer RAW files from Pana > Iphone?

Hi

I haven't checked in a while but IIRC Panasonic app didn't allow RAW files to be transferred via wifi.  Is this still true?

I remember downloading a third-party app that was a little slow/buggy at the time(early 2017) and it allowed RAW files to be transferred wirelessly from GX8.

I just got iPhone X and would like to transfer images from gx8, gx85 and gh4.

Just found a $10 app called RAW Power that processes raw files without adobe subscription required.

Editing D810 files with this app and X is amazing.  Output was also very quick.  Just emailed myself a jpeg from a raw render and took a couple of seconds before I got it in my email.

One of the Cascable apps may be what you're looking for: https://cascable.se/

Thanks, masotime.  That's the app.  Selecting images was real slow with iphone 6s+.   I will give it another try.  have you tried the app and was it fast enough for you?

Hello!

Can you try it again and let me know if you find it slow?

We test Cascable on iPhones from the iPhone 6 up, and it should be nice and snappy on your 6s. However, there are different kinds of slow — is it because it takes a while for Cascable to display the list of photos? Are you waiting for thumbnails to load (you can still select photos and use the app while thumbnails load) ? Is the app itself sluggish when scrolling? Those are all caused by different things, including the camera.

You might find the "Quick Select" button helpful too — rather than manually choosing photos, you can batch-select them with Quick Select.

Let me know!

Unfortunately I haven't tried it much myself. I felt the pricing was too expensive for what it did so I ended up not using it (I used to be on the Beta program, and during the beta it didn't support Panasonic cameras, or at least my GX85).

Re: Any app to transfer RAW files from Pana > Iphone?

I tried it on iPhone X and GH4 and damn thing is pretty slow just to render thumbnails. I can't imagine having to wade through more than 30-40 photos because each screen takes a while to render just the thumbnails.

The app lists small thumbnails on the left followed by metadata and a download button. They should redesign this section with bigger or resizeable thumbnails like on Photomechanic or even Apple Photos app.  I cannot really see what I am trying to download and that is an issue when you have many photos.

Would be great if you can select images to download like on Photos.

At this point might as well use SD card reader on Apple product.

Will try on GX85 to see if it works or is faster.

If you tap "Select" at the top of the list, Cascable will then let you tap items to select just like the Photos app, then download them all at once. If you have Cascable Pro, you can use the Quick Select button to batch select based on a few criteria, including date.

We've had a few requires for larger thumbnails, and it's something we're looking into implementing in a future update.

Yes the speed would also be limited by the WiFi hardware of the camera. Relatively speaking (tech wise) the GH4 is pretty outdated. (> 3 years old)

I have no knowledge of iThings, but for android, the quickest way would be to put the SD card into a reader with a microUSB/USBc plug, and use a file management app on the phone to copy the required files.

This should be possible on apple phones too, I would think, using something like this .

So if you want to use an SD Card reader, I would recommend the official Apple one - https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJYT2AM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader

If you pair it with the iPad Pro, it transfers pretty quickly.

Get the dongle

The easiest and quickest way for me is to use Apple's Lightning port SD card. Works on both my iPad and my wife's iPhone. Plus it copies very quickly and connects instantly, unlike wi-fi apps.

tried cascable with gx85 and it took about 11 seconds per 19mb photo(2mb/s).  having larger thumbnails would lower the amount of photos you download because you would be able to judge them better than a tiny thumbnail.

I don't think it can IIRC.
