K-S2 and BULB, shutter release

K-S2 is nice DSLR, but there is one fault (at least for me): lack of wired remote connector = no support for wired remote. Simple thing, but embarrassing if you shoot long BULB exposures. I don't care IR releases so much.

But there is a solution!

...There is options in K-S2 custom menu (C1 - Bulb mode options) how shutter works in bulb mode, you can choose:

* type1 - exposure continues while the shutter release button is pressed.

* type2 - exposure starts with the first press of the shutter release button and ends with the second press of the shutter release button.

...Since it is difficult to keep the shutter release button depressed when using for example IR remote , I think it's much better using [Type2] in such cases.

cheers,

Ari

K-S2 macro not working

When I set my dial to "SCN" and select flower, it will not focus up close.  I wonder if I have made a contradictory setting some place.

I will appreciate good advice.

P.S.  It worked when new, but that was almost two years ago.

Your scene selection on the camera body has nothing to do with the ability of the lens to close focus. All lenses have different characteristics - some will focus closer than others - but if you want true close ups, get a macro lens. Pentax has several, there are others available as well. A macro lens on your K-S2 will allow shots like this:

It would be good to know what lens you use than. For example some Macro lens have a focus limiter.... maybe when you use such a lens, look if your focus limiter was and is, unnoticed, set to exclude the macro range.
