Anybody out there with GX8 and Lumix 100-300 MkII?

Hi!

My present telephoto zoom is the original 45-200. While I'm generally pleased with the lens coupled with my GX8, I am toying with the Dual-IS and further reach of the recent  Lumix 100-300 MkII. I have seen comments about that lens with the G85 but not coupled with the GX8 and its earlier version of in-body IS. I would appreciate any comment about this combo : IQ (especially between 200 and 300 mm), keeper rate (focus performance with Dual-IS), etc. Any input would be much appreciated.

I had it and it was an excellent combination.  I could not get the Olympus 75-300 to work well enough on the GX8 so I switched to the Pan 100-300 II and it was great.

"Had it"? Why did you get rid of it if it was great or was it rented?

I have a GX8 and got the Lumix 100-300 MkII a few weeks ago. I got it for wildlife, and manual focus is important to me. The focus-by-wire is driving me nuts on this lens, feels like a defect.

Did you set focus peaking and magnification? Otherwise, I find the focus-by-wire on this lens no different than on all my other lenses. Obviously, focusing at a 600 mm eq. FL takes some getting used to. Otherwise, I tend to use the auto focus with small box for most of my "critters" pics and it does quite well.

That's helpful feedback. I have several Panasonic lenses and haven't struggled with MF until this lens. Sounds like I need to put in more work getting used to working with it.
