The celebration continues (EX1)

Yes, I still occasionally feel a bit sad when I think of Samsung pulling out of the camera business, but being a 'glass half full' person, I focus more on what I get from my EX1 (than what I may be missing from a potential replacement).

This quirky little marvel continues to amaze me (even after 6 years) with some of the images that it produces. I enter a local photo challenge, and this month the subject is 'Ground level'. These says, I tend to use my Canon G1X, more so when I need the larger sensor. But it's Achilles heel is it's terrible close focusing, and with any shot close to the ground, we will need that close focusing so that the foreground is not too blurred. So I resolved to take all the pictures for this challenge using the EX1, and I hope that you will agree, it hasn't disappointed.

The time for reviews, and discussions about Samsung cameras is probably over, but there is no reason not to celebrate how good they are by posting pictures that are still being taken with them. Long live the EX1/2.

Not  much light in these gorgeous woods (Great Wood, Quantocks, Somerset, UK) so I put the EX1 on a Gorilla pod.

Our little seaside town has been much benefited from some (organized) graffiti.

An early morning shot just after the tide had been in.

Taken at West Porlock on the Somerset coast.

I had stopped to take pictures of Exmoor when I saw this cyclist approaching.

A 'wait for the right moment' shot.

Just after the challenge was announced, we had a parade of classic cars along the seafront.

The town church seen from the local public gardens.

A closer look at St Andrew's Church.

Nice pictures, proving once again that the photographer's skill counts for a lot more than the camera's cost. Having said that, I agree the ex1 is a good little camera. I owned one myself and took lots of pictures with it. Here are a few :

Beautiful work Joe! With the right skills, the EX1 certainly punches well above its weight!

Here are a few more taken recently.

Another taken for the 'Ground level' photo challenge.

And another - my back is still recovering!

Another example of why a fully articulating screen is essential for me.

The early Autumn (Fall) can be as photogenic as the late.

A helping hand from Photoshop.

Nice! There's no hardware substitution for imagination 🙂

I was 'in the woods' yesterday. Very low light, and I hardly got a decent shot with my Canon G1X. The Samsung did a little bit better with the assistance of a generic Gorillapod.

Macro setting, smallest aperture, and using a generic Gorillapod.

A bit more light, and I just managed to hand hold the EX1.

You don't think of a compact as a portrait camera, but sometimes it can surprise!

Green machine.

I had just 30 minutes to spare yesterday morning, so walked around my neighbourhood with the Sammy at the ready, There is usually a shot there somewhere. A combination of light, colour, and objects being in the right place at the right time.

Brilliant pics

Love it when a thread pops up about the EX1 , I toyed with the idea of buying a new camera to replace my EX1 the other week but thought cobblers to it , the EX1 still take brilliant pics and I still take it most places with me after 6 years of ownership. I do transfer a lot of the pics to my iPhone for editing, I find it a perfect combo.

Thanks Evul.  Yes, even after six years, the performance of the EX1 is still good enough to make it a 'must carry' camera.  I don't have a phone, so have to wait till I get home.
