Canon Powershot SX60 HS Wobbly Lens

Hi all, I've recently bought myself a Canon Powershot SX60 HS as an upgrade from a Canon Powershot SX1 IS. The SX1 was a great camera, but of course the SX60 has some improvements and more usable features.

But I have a question regarding the build quality of the SX60 I was hoping someone could either explain it as being a flaw or a fault.

I have only used the SX60 once since purchasing it, but upon the first time using it I noticed that there's quite a substantial amount of lateral movement i.e. slop, in the lens inside the lens casing, by over 1mm. It's the same whether the lens is retracted or extended. Grasping it between your fingers only requires a small bit of effort to wobble it from side to side

Does anyone know whether this might be a fault with this particular camera or is it the same with all the SX60's and simply a design flaw?

I'd be surprised if it is a design flaw, especially give the overall build quality of the camera

The SX1 IS I had previously had no "slop" in the lens of that camera, which leads me to believe that this SX60 is faulty.

I appreciate any insight anyone may have to offer in this regard.

Thank you.

Alan

Hi Alan, I can only confirm the same with my Canon Powershot SX60 HS. Did you find an answer elsewhere? Thanks for the reply in advance Katarina
