Just want to say thank you to everyone. I'm jumping ship to Pentax.

I don't know where to start, but to make it really short, I'm jumping ship to the pentax K1.

I took some photos and imported them in lightroom and all I can say is that the images are astounding!  I have never seen colors like that from any camera I have ever used.  It is truly amazing and the price is just unbeatable.

The output of the K1 is simply on a whole different level and because I mainly shoot mostly in poor low light the amazing low light capability of this puppy will help me tremendously.

What I can tell you is that after only a few seconds of seeing how the files and the colors behave, I'm sold.  The images look very much like "film" as well and I'm simply in love at first sight.  Also after seeing the white balance capability I'm in shock at how gorgeous the images look.  There is no way to explain it until you see the files yourself.

I have been waiting and waiting and I have looked at ALL camera brands for MONTHS, I talked to my wife about this move, and the K1 is THE one.

It has been a true pleasure to be here and to have used Fuji starting with the S5 Pro, then the X10, then XE1 and XT1, and a few days with the XT2.  I have learned a LOT from many of you, and I truly respect everyone here and all you guys are awesome.  I know I too have been a pain on the butt and I thank you for putting up with me as well.

It will take me some time to sell all my stuff so meanwhile I will continue shooting with my existing gear.  Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend.

You know, I tried this same type of post to say goodbye to my "friends" when I left the Sony forum. I got crucified. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen here. All I have to say to you, Batdude, is "God bless. Best of success and happiness. Enjoy your new camera to the utmost. I'm glad you found what works for you and what you love." - Chris

Hope it works out for you. Good luck! Just curious if you are satisfied with the selection of native lenses? Any plans of using adapters and non-native lenses?

Thank you Chris, I appreciate that.

I'm sure fuji will succeed at what they are doing and their products are for sure fantastic.  I have no doubt that I might continue purchasing their stuff in the very near future.  Fuji is kind of "my first love".  Had that effect when I discovered the S5 Pro several years ago.

I'm definitely not going to post a "good bye" in the nikon forum.  All those guys are obsesses with is AF, nothing else hahahahaha!  They will definitely crucify me there.

I'm a prime shooter, so yes, I am going to have to get used to shooting at f2.8 for now.  The lenses that will work for me at this time will be the 24-70 and I'm thinking of getting the sigma 35 1.4.

For now that's it.  I don't do landscape so anything wider I really don't need at this point.  As I go I will see what else I can my hands on in prime lenses.  I do want a 85mm.  There is also the 70-200 but that is the least lens I use so I really don't need it.  The 24-70 will be my main lens if I get the K1, for now.

The lucre of FA-limiteds!

I still have my FA limiteds and I am sure the K-1 would be an awesome match. However whenever I have to leave home with a small setup, my T-20 and the 18/35 comes with me in a tiny bag.

Hence haven't been able to buy the K-1 yet. Neither have I been able to sell the FA-limiteds yet

Best to you in your usage of the new system.

I wanted to draw your attention to Jim Radcliffe if you don't know about him already.

He is a long time Fuji user coming from µ4/3 before that and he also uses the K-1.

He has a website called boxed light:

http://www.boxedlight.com

I use Sony FF (A7) and Fuji and like how the systems, i.e. different sized sensors, can compliment each other.

Sad to see you go, but I think you'll have a blast with that K1. I find it very attractive and the price means I'm willing to consider it as a second camera instead of a replacement.

Just curious, were you not at all interested in D850? I mean, yes, the price of the K1 is sensational for what you get. But D850 really has my interest.

Say Batdude.... about selling that Fuji gear... I've been thinking about getting a 16mm f1.4. When you're ready to part with it, I'd be interested.

Yes, for what this camera does the price is a joke and I'm gonna take advantage of that.

Just curious, were you not at all interested in D850? I mean, yes, the price of the K1 is sensational for what you get. But D850 really has my interest.

No not interested in D850.  I sure don't need to go above 36MP and don't need high FPS.  I have used different nikon cameras and in the end their sause is the same.  Now I know as a FACT that every camera manufacturer has that personal sauce, and even sony has its own look, but the files of the K1 is nothing that I have ever seen before.  The white balance and color behavior destroys nikon.  At least any of the Nikon cameras that I have used, the latest ones being my D4 and D500.  The K1 blows these out of the water in IQ including the D810 above iso 3200.

I'm done with nikon.

I jumped the other way.
2

I was in the same boat at the beginning of the year. Moving from m43 & APS-C systems to FF. My APS-C was Pentax, the bodies are great but the lenses a bit iffy, a lot of CA, soft corners and especially the AF - very hit and miss.

The K-1 was top of the list except for one big issue, lenses.

The limited's are ok, but their old slow noisy AF wasn't tempting. If Pentax had just repackaged the limiteds with modern fast & quiet AF motors, with weather sealing, that would have been enough for me.

As it is, the only lens that had enough scope and quality is the cheaper zoom, actually designed and made by Pentax, the 28-105mm. It's actually a good lens. The rebranded Tamron's just don't cut the mustard for their weight and price, I couldn't recommend them to anyone.

I've been watching if any new actual Pentax-made lenses might emerge, but no. And still no support from Sigma. Unfortunate.

Then I saw the output of the Fuji GFX, and importantly the performance of the GF lenses. Those lenses are possibly the best on the planet, certainly beating most Zeiss primes. Even the GF zoom is better than most primes - which as it turned out was my perfect wish-list zoom range, wide to standard.

I bit the bullet, and went for the adventure of an amazing new system, the GFX. I've never owned such a great camera in all my 30+ years of photography (which has included Hasselblad and Sinar).

I think the K-1 is a great value quality-sensor FF camera, if rather heavy. The lenses are very lacking, and the K-1's AF isn't great. It's such a shame Sigma couldn't have just made their newer crop of lenses in a K mount - I'm sure there would have been a lot of takers! And also me for the K-1, but no, the reality is lack of quality lenses - I couldn't look past that.
